Well, we did it. Susan and I walked the 6.2 miles for the Cooper River's 30th Bridge Walk. I am so proud of us. The last 1/4 mile I was in tears because I KNEW we would finnish. Susan walks faster than I did, but she kept up with me the whole time, never letting me get more than a step or two behind, before she was pulling me up with her. I'm not gonna lie, for me, when we started the up hill climb on the bridge, I didn't think I was going to make it. I have a bad back and it was very hard on it. I also had every ghost that I had in the past following me that I had to fight. They were telling me things like, why are you doing this, you know you can't do it? A fat person like you aren't suppose to be here! You are tired, just quit. Your back hurts, your feet hurt, you can't breath. I kept hearing the echo in my ears, quit, quit, quit. But did we, NO! Once we reached the top, I knew without a shadow of a doubt that I would not quit. Susan wouldn't have let me quit anyhow, even if she would have had to carry me. When we got to the finnish line, we held hands and crossed at exactly the same time, step in step. We hugged and hugged. She is my bestest friend ever!!!!!!!! I am so proud of us!!!! Just think, 2 months ago, I would have just been watching it on TV. MY God is sooooooooooooooo good !!!!!!! Deb

Yes, WE did it. We did it together, hand in hand. It was great! With so many people out there it was not as hard as I thought it would be. There was no way I was going to quit with all those people aroung - no way!!! Everyone - next year we should all do it together. It really wasn't too bad. The hardest part was the incline on the bridge but it wasn't too steep. The rest of it was all downhill (literally!). And it felt so good to walk across the finish line. Next year we can have a whole group of us walk across it together - wouldn't that be cool?! Thanks for all the support, Susan

Yea, I thought Susan was going to throw my camera's off the bridge. At every mile marker we got a picture (my excuse to be able to stop for about 30 seconds). We got some good finnish pictures too. We'll get them posted soon. Yea, I think it's a good idea to plan for a group of us to do it next year. On April 28th there is another walk/run. It is a 5K (3.1 miles). It's called Riverfest. It is a run/walk for Epilepsy. It cost $20.00 for pre-registration, that includes a t-shirt. If we have more than 7 people in a group, you can take $2.00 off of every registration. That is up to April 13th, after that the cost is $25.00 and race day it is $30. The location will be at Riverfront park in Columbia. All proceeds from this event go to the Epilepsy foundation of South Carolina. There is a first place award given to the top fundraising team. South Carolina girls/guys we can do this. Go to [email protected] to register or find out more information.

I am so proud of both of you. And I feel so happy and blessed that I have gotten to know both of you. Little did I know that when this scare woman walked in to Dr. Byrne's office for the first time that I would be on my way to finding the best group of friends. Ever. You guys rock. I can't wait to see all of you again. Mary

That is awesome. DH and I are hoping to walk/run in it next year. We should get a large group together. We might even get on the news. Rachel

I am so proud of you two. I watched on the TV looking for you guys but did not see you. That is wonderful. Next year. I will join you. I promise. It has always been my goal to do the Bridge Run. I know you two are so happy! And I am happy for you. Julie
