Hello Today I am 18 days post-op from my gastric bypass and down 21 pounds and starting to feel better with each passing day. My stomach is still a little sore and I can't wait for the day when I feel like I didn't have surgery at all. I have a question and I hope that there are others out there who did the same thing that I'm doing so here's my question. I know that for the first 4 weeks everything is either suppose to go in a blender or a processer, but if I had to puree one more piece of food, I don't think that I would or will survive the next week. What I've been doing is taking whatever I eat and just chew, chew, and chew until it's the consistency of pureed food and sort of squi**** around in my mouth a through my teeth until it is a smooth texture before I swallow. I'm hoping that this is okay and was wondering if anyone else out there had this dillema and did the same thing that I'm doing or am I sabotaging myself? I guess I'm hoping someone can put my mind at ease and hoping that I'm not hurting my pouch by doing this. Thanks Melanie

sounds like it should be fine.. if you able to swi**** through your teeth i think its liquid! lol dont think youre crazy, i was sucking on a cheese puff to feel normal at the period. i had a REAL hard time adjusting to being "different" than everyone else around me.. im the queen of not following the rules so dont go by my book! But you should be okay as long as you arent eating steak! jen

I have been blessed since my surgery. I never pureed one thing. I had to be creative and still do, when I ate. I ate things like protein pudding, no sugar added applesauce, refried beans from taco bell, and won-ton soup, just the broth. Some days I had the soup several times a day. Lima Beans cooked up real real good, mostly the broth. Grits and a few times the Wendy's chili. A small chili you can eat off of about 3 times. Just chew it real real good. French onion soup with no bread or cheese, just because the cheese was so thick, and I didn't eat the onions, just the broth. Broc and cheese soup, but I didn't eat lumps of broccoli. Anything that would just about slide down on its own. I just couldn't bring myself to eat the babyfood or pureed anything. Good Luck!!! Deb
