Hey girls..I took your advice.

Okay girls....I went to Walgreens and bought the Optisource bariatric vitamins. WOW they were 27 dollars. But its a big ole thing. Then off to GNC..I bought Whey Protein. Banana something and Strawberry. They are on sale buy one get one half off. So I will start getting my protein. The lady at GNC said we can only absorb 30 grams of protein at one time. Does anyone know anything about this? Also she said Protein will stop up your plumbing if you know what I need. She said I needed flax seed. What is that? I said no thanks I have to ask my dr. What does everyone else do to keep their plumbing working. I hate getting stopped up. Hope everyone is having a blessed day. I feel better today. Not as nauseated as yesterday. I prayed real hard last night that this virus would go away and it has. Praise GOD......Deb I am glad your okay. Your my Gastric Day buddy. Don't want you sick. Be good today everyone. Love Jennifer

Jennifer- the optisource is a big bottle, but you are supposed to take 4 a day. So it is a months supply. But I think they are worth it. It is true about only absorbing around 30 grams of protein at a time. I think it takes about an hour to absorb that 30 grams. Some people have problems with constipation, but if you drink your water...eat some fruit and veggies, it should not be a big problem. I am so happy to hear the nausea has subsided. Hopefully, this is the beginning of the good part for ya!!! Melissa

I eat a tablespoon of flaxseed every day with my yogurt -- they're little pointy seeds that have lots of really-good-for-you omega-3 fatty acids, and they are also very high in fiber so they help you keep from getting stopped up. Keep them in the fridge if you get them! I've heard the 30 grams of protein thing over and over and decided to research it (hey, it's what I do for a living). It ends up that we can absorb far more than 30 grams, depending on the kind of protein -- whey isolate protein is one we can absorb much more of because it's sort of pre-digested and the body doesn't have to work as hard. There's a formula that's based on the kind of protein and how much you weigh. For some reason, I can't pull up the paper right now, but when I can, I'll post a link. Anyway, we can absorb more than 30 grams, though with our plumbing re-arranged, we need to get more. Does that make sense? Hope this helps! Lisa

AS FOR THE FLAX SEED, MS RESEARCH PRO ... EVER SINCE SURGERY, I ONLY GO ONCE EVERY 3 DAYS & IT'S NOT A PLEASANT EXPERIENCE ... I'VE EVEN RESORTED TO DUCOLAXX BUT DON'T LIKE THE RESULTS. WILL FLAX SEED HELP SPEED UP MY SYSTEM? WHAT ABOUT ACIDOLPHELIS (sp?) - DOES IT HELP IN DIGESTION? HOW ABOUT THAT ACTIVA YOGURT I'VE SEEN ADVERTISED ON TV? THE LITTLE I KNOW ABOUT THIS ... THE 30 GRAMS PER SNACK IS A GOOD GENERAL RULE OF THUMB & SINCE WE ARE SUPPOSED TO EAT 4 - 6 SNACKS A DAY, THAT GIVES US A GREAT WAY TO GET TONS OF PROTEIN IN. I'VE FOUND THAT I HAVE SO MUCH MORE ENERGY & MY MOODS STAY MORE BALANCED IF I STICK WITH THE 4 - 6 SNACKS vs ONLY EATING A COUPLE TIMES A DAY, OR EATING MORE AT EACH SITTING - KEEPS THE BLOOD SUGARS & NUTRITION MORE LEVEL. I AVERAGE ABOUT 200 CALORIES EACH SITTING, 1,000 CALORIES A DAY +++ OPTISOURSE, XANGO (Mangosteen Juice), B-12 & A TON OF ANTIOXIDENTS & OTHER NUTRIENTS. IT ALL REALLY, REALLY HELPS! I ALSO READ WHERE WE HAVE RECEPTORS THAT ARE WHAT ALLOWS US TO ABSORB NUTRITION/PROTEIN, ETC ... SO, IF YOU EAT TOO MUCH PROTEIN, FOR EXAMPLE, AS SOON AS THOSE RECEPTORS GET FILLED UP, THEN ALL THE REST OF THE PROTEIN IS JUST FLUSHED THROUGH OUR SYSTEM UNUSED, WASTED SO TO SPEAK. ?????? MOST AVERAGE SIZED WOMEN NEED 75 - 80 GRAMS OF PROTEIN A DAY (I HAVE AN EQUATION ABOUT HALF WAY DOWN MY PROFILE) ... &, IF YOU ARE EXERCISING STENUOUSLY, THEN YOU NEED TO INCREASE YOUR PROTEIN TO HELP REBUILD YOUR MUSCLES. BETWEEN FLUIDS & PROTEIN, THOSE ARE THE 2 MOST IMPORTANT ITEMS ON YOUR DAILY LIST ... EVERYTHING ELSE SHOULD COME AFTER CONSUMING THEM AS FAR AS IMPORTANCE FOR STAYING HEALTHY. Jennifer...you can also get flaxseed oil which is pretty good mixed in with oatmeal or drizzled on a salad. You may also want to try an Omega blend oil...the Udo's brand is good. It is refrigerated so it will not just be out on the shelf. Our nurtritionist also suggested to me that I use something like Benefiber...you can mix it in anything! Hope this helps! Melanie
