DRINKING WITH MEALS

I DRINK CRYSTAL LITE WITH MY MEALS & I MAKE SURE I LIMIT MY CALORIES TO 1,000 - 1,200 A DAY SO I NEVER THOUGHT MUCH ABOUT THE SUBJECT. I NEVER KNEW WHY SOME DOCTORS SAY NOT TO DRINK WITH YOUR MEALS ... HERE'S A PART OF A NEWSLETTER ABOUT THE SUBJECT ... INTERESTING. " ... The one sure foil for that restriction is to drink while you are eating, essentially making a soft squishy slurry out of your food by adding liquid to it. The soft wet food sloshes around in the small pouch, and squishes out the other side when you force it. Drink a little more and you can wa**** all right on through. Then you can fill it again! Do it a few more times and you can eat the entire plateful of food if you really want to. I know someone who thought she was smart that she figured out that she could eat cake and drink a glass of warm water to wa**** through the area where she would normally absorb all the sugar and dump. Ha! She was so smart that she fooled the surgery. So smart in fact that she is now 200 pounds again. When you ask us for help and we ply you with a few questions to identify where your problem may be... and we find the problem... please don't argue and tell us that NOT Drinking With Meals is a THEORY that some people have. NO, it is NOT a theory that washing your food through your pouch is a bad thing. It is a FACT that washing your food through your pouch is a bad thing. I can assure you that every single person we have met that has gained back substantial weight after not getting to goal in the first place, or who simply lost that first freebie 100 pounds and nothing since, have two things in common. One is that they drink with their meals. Two is that they are washing that food through their pouch with vast quantities of Diet Coke. ..." HMMMMM, VERY INTERESTING ... GOD BLESS ... DAWN & NICK

I got the same newsletter and forwarded it to Deb and Margo about an hour ago. I think we are on the same wavelength. It's hard to not drink after eating but you have to consciously remind yourself that you can't. I am working too hard to lose this weight - I don't want to gain it back by doing something stupid like drinking while eating! Susan

I have always had a drink with my meals (Crystal Lite) ... Never thought much about it. But now, after reading that info, I'm gonna try to change & eat without drinking. I really didn't know it made a difference. That's one on me!

WELL, I HATE TO ADMIT IT BUT IT COMES FROM bariatriceating.com. YES, THEY DO HAVE A LOT OF GOOD INFO ON THEIR NEWS LETTER & ON THEIR WEBSITE. THE REASON SOME OF US DON'T BUY PRODUCTS FROM THE SITE ANY LONGER IS BECAUSE SUSAN MARIE POSTED A BRUTAL LETTER AGAINST OUR BOARD & OTHER BOARDS TRYING TO PROVE THAT HER MESSAGE BOARD WAS BETTER THAN ALL OTHERS. IT WAS VERY DISRESPECTFUL TO ALL OF US WHO TRY DAY IN & DAY OUT TO DO OUR BEST TO MAKE BETTER & BETTER CHOICES ... &, IT WAS VERY SELF-SERVING FOR HER. THERE IS NO REASON FOR ANYONE TO EVER DIVIDE US ... WE ARE ALL IN THE SAME BOAT NO MATTER WHERE WE POST, OR WHERE WE LIVE, OR WHAT CHOICES WE MAKE. FOR THOSE REASONS, I (& several others) NO LONGER BUY FROM HER SITE AS A WAY OF PROTEST. BUT, I AUTOMATICALLY RECEIVE HER NEWS LETTER & I WILL SAY THAT SHE IS STRAIGHT FORWARD & DOESN'T SUGAR COAT HER ADVICE, SOMETHING I LIKE. SHE HAS A "GROW UP & FLY RIGHT" ATTITUDE THAT MANY COULD BENEFIT FROM IF THEY FOLLOWED HER ADVICE. GOOD ADVICE IS STILL GOOD ADVICE ... GOD BLESS YOU ... DAWN & NICk

I have always drank alot while I ate, probably because I was only half chewing my food and needed something to wa**** down. I have noticed now though, if I drink, I get sick. I guess it is a good thingthat I get sick, that stops me from being bad. Thank yall for looking after us (me). Deb

Yes I agree it makes sense.....so wait that time amount we are told in the beginning...15min to 1/2hr so our food can be absorbed and we get the nutrients we need so be healthy an dlose weight. Would be a waster to flush out the protein our bodies need to live. Thanks as always Dawn! Joan M

Thanks for posting this Dawn ... I try really hard to follow this rule, and sometimes I realllllly want to drink with food, like the old days. It's good to remind myself why that's not a good idea! Dawn
