I have my psych evaluation coming up and I am so scared. I know I will just answer openly and honestly but I don't even know what type of questions to anticipate. Anywone have any advice? Thanks! Renee

My psych eval was an interview. The doctor basically asked questions/talked with me and evaluated what I knew about the surgery and what I believed the surgery was and was not. Other folks have had more involved evaluations. Depends on the doctor. IMy advice would be to take the time to evaluate yourself, the surgery, what the surgery can and cannot do for you. What are your expectations regarding the surgery? It is not a be-all-that-ends-all way to allow you to eat what you want. It is a tool that you will use to help you correct your behavior toward food and eating. I am not saying this as a downer, but to help you prepare. I hope all goes well for you.

Hey Mine was basically why did I want the surgery and when I told him he recommended I start antidepressants again. I have had 2 since I had tried twice in several years to get the surgery. I think its a piece of cake and it shouldn't scare you at all.

I was scared and nervous about mine too, but it ended up just being a fill in the dot questionaire with about 200 questions. Crazy stuff, like what your relationship with your parents was when growing up, whether you felt like they loved you. Then it had things like: my coworkers talk about me, true or false. I've always felt different from other people, true or false. I've never felt pretty, true or false. Some of the questions are the same, only worded differently. It took me over an hour to fill in the blanks while the doctor just sat there waiting on me, then he kinda looked over the papers and then made some small talk about where i was raised, what kind of job i do, etc and then told me i was free to go, that he would get a report to my doctor the next week. Just don't get too worked up over it, that is just a small stepping stone on your way to a new life.

HERE'S WHAT I THINK ABOUT BEING SCARED ... WHAT IS SCARIER? LIVING THE REST OF YOUR LIFE OBESE OR HAVING HOPE FOR YOUR FUTURE BECAUSE YOU ARE WILLING TO TAKE A RISK TO CHANGE YOUR LIFE? KEEP YOUR CHIN UP, SWEETHEART ... THE ONLY THING THAT IS TRULY SCAREY, IS NOT CHANGING! GOD BLESS YOU ... DAWN & NICk
