For Pre-ops, Post-ops, and just thinking about WLS friends

I had a conversation yesterday with a coworker who is thinking about WLS. I invited her to our Lowcountry Bypass Buddies meeting that is held every thursday night at the Pizza Inn on Rivers Avenue in Charleston. She was nervous and asked if we would mind someone barging in on our meetings. I just wanted to invite everyone to come. Susann is our leader and this is not a closed group. It is a support group for anyone who has anything to do with WLS. We welcome preops, it was not that long ago that we were there. I remember how nervous I was before I went to my first meeting. I was so overweight and self conscious and had NO confidence, I made two other friends come with me. Now these ladies are among my closest friends. I'm sure that I speak for the upstate ladies when I saw that we welcome new friends. Even if you decide that WLS is not for you, we have all faced the battle with food and are still facing it. To make a long story short. I hope that no one will feel shy about coming to meet us. The support makes a huge difference. Please send me or any one of us a message if you have any questions that you want to ask. It took me months before I was brave enough to post, but thats a whole nother story. Mary

I agree with you mary. I also was scared to come but after I got there everyone was so nice.

Well said Mary. I wish I could get my friend to come who is thinking about it. I invited him but he is still on the fence. Hopefully as he gets close he will take me up on the offer. Julie

Well said! We LOVE new friends. We usually end up having so mu*****ommon, we end up feeling like family. Plus we have so much fun, our support group meetings end up like parties. Sometimes I laugh so much I nearly pee my pants, but we will cry together too. I don't know where I'd be without my WLS surgery friends. Kathy
