I just want some bread!!!!
Hi Robin
I'm so glad to read that you're feeling better. I can only speak for myself on the topic of bread and what it does to me. Within a few minutes of taking a bite of ANYTHING with white flour, I throw it back up. From sliced bread, to biscuits or a tortilla wrap.. if it's made with white flour, it's coming back up. I don't seem to have that problem with wheat bread, I had about 1/4 of a 6in sub from subway, made on whole wheat and it seems to be tolorated OK. Sarra Lee makes a carb free/sugar free bread. It's kind of pricey... but it's not to bad tasting. I hope this helps!!!!

Robin,
Pepperidge Farm makes a great carb friendly bread. I absolutely love it! I have to eat it very, very slow, but it is worth every bite. To give you a nutrional breakdown: 1 slice = 60 calories, 0 g sugar, 5 grams of protein. It is also extremely soft for a wheat bread. I was pleasantly shocked. I think it's called Pepperidge Farm Carb Delight. I highly suggest that you try it.
Hello, my friend! I'm so happy to hear you're doing better... Just wanted to give you an FYI about the sugar/bread thing - it's sugar that feeds the yeast that makes the bread. In the bible when they speak of "unleavened" (flat) bread, it's bread without yeast. Very bland & tasteless. But it was a staple of their diet.
You are doing fantastic and I'm very, very proud of you! I am here for you as I know you are for me. Your experiences are teaching me SOOOO much - I just wish I could make it easier for you.
Remember how much I love you and treasure your friendship & keep on VENTIN' honey! You're gonna have to listen to me in the future (forewarned is forearmed)...
love ya - Hellen

Thanks so much Hellen and all of you for responding. I really appreciate you all being here for me in my many, many, did I mention many? times of need. I have another question too, did anyone have lots of soreness at the incision site where your drain tube was even after a month out? It's all closed and healed but it is very tender to the touch and I can't rest in bed on that side due to the pain. I wonder if I should call Dr.B or if this is normal being only a month out? I know it takes the body alot longer to heal on the inside right?
Robin
Hey Robin,
About the pain...I had severe pain on my left side and was very afraid something was stuck in my intestines or something. However, after it hurting for about 4-5 days each day getting a little better. It hurt breathing, sleeping, rolling over, etc... I went to my 1 month check up and Dr. B assured me it was just the nerves trying to heal.
Also if you go to the December board, which I did last night I found a lot of other people are having this issue as well. I think you are right on that target of being 1 month out....so I'm sure that is the case. But if it stills gives you problems or you can't tolerate it...please call and he will fit you in. I understand you are very scared, I know I was.
Also on the burrito thing...I get a bean burrito from Taco Bell and suck out the beans, or just get the pinto's and bean added with sour cream. It makes it creamier. Also I did try 1/4 of a jr. whopper one time and it was not pleasant. One of the worst things was hurting and wanting to throw up but not being able to. I have since found out if I can't make myself throw up, then I will go drink something and that usually will help me get it out.
Call me if you want to chat or if you need any advice. I am home most days doing nothing since I am not working now. 572-4134
