MUSC Question

Because of insurance issues I am having to change to MUSC. I had already gone through most of my pre-op requirements and was suppose to have the surgery in late March. Now I have called MUSC to request a packet to fill out and send back into them before I can get my initial appt. Can anyone tell me how long the process was from start to surgery? I would like to be able to plan a vacation, of some sort, for my family since my husband has been deployed for 6 months.

I haven't had my surgery yet but I do know that it takes about 2 weeks after you've sent in your paper work to get an appt then it's like a month or 2 later for the first appointment. Do you have Tri Care insurance? Why is your insurance not allowing you to have the surgery there? I know they're are a few ladies from Charleston that had surgery there with Tri Care. Just keep your head up everything will work out and you will get your surgery soon enough. Maybe it was changed for a reason and the lord above was looking out for your best interest. Good luck.

BEST THING YOU CAN DO IS CALL MUSC & EXPLAIN YOUR VACATION ISSUES & WORK WITH THEM TO MAKE SURE YOU CAN GET YOUR VACATION & YOUR SURGERY. I KNOW THEY WILL WORK WITH YOU UNDER THE CIR****TANCES OF YOUR HUSBAND BEING DEPLOYED. I THINK THE WHOLE PROCESS WITH TRI CARE PRIME WAS A COUPLE MONTHS FROM START TO SURGERY ... LOOK AT THE BEGINNING OF MY PROFILE - I DATED EVERYTHING & JOURNALED WHAT I HAD TO DO AT MUSC ... IT'S BACK IN MID-LATE 2005 IN MY PROFILE. GOD BLESS YOU & YOUR HUSBAND ... DAWN & NICk

Monica, my whole process from initial appointment to surgery date was from 9/2006 until 1/10/2007. I thought that was pretty decent. My initial appointment was scheduled in 9/2006 and I think that was scheduled about a month after MUSC received my packet of info. Good luck with the surgery. I have lost 38lbs since Jan 10th so I am quite happy!
