Ok....I broke down today and bought some of that Nioxin to help with my hair. We will have to see how it works. Has anyone else noticed a difference with it? Rachel

Nioxin is a shampoo and conditioner treatment that you can only buy in select salons to help thinning hair. We will have to see if it helps. I'll post and let people know how it works. Rachel

Hi Rachel, I am, regrettably, the queen of thinning hair My hair was thinning before surgery (hysterectomy, no HRT), so I feel what you're going through more than you know. I used the 3 step Nioxin before, and it may have made a difference, but not sure. Right now I am using the Nioxin scalp therapy #2 (bought it at Ulta on Woodruff Road). I use my regular shampoo, then leave the Nioxin on for the rest of my shower. I feel as though it does make me "feel" like I have more hair, but I can't speak for regrowth at this point. Until you start having regrowth, here are some styling tips I have discovered or gotten from pros: 1. Minimize use of "product". I am down to using a texturizer before I blow dry, and a *very* light mist hair spray (Tresemme - bought at Sally's). 2. Wash/rinse your hair upside down. Will add volume. 3. Use conditioner. I used to not use conditioner, but now I am having better results if I use it. The Nioxin #2 acts as a good conditioner as well - very thick and nice. I hate feeling good hair pull out when my comb is stuck in a knot.....I lose enough without my pulling out the good ones 4. Dry hair in opposite direction that you ultimately want it to go. I use a brush/dryer, but now I take the brush off, kind of scrunch/mush at the roots, then only use the brush to style at the end. Seems to help with volume. All this said, don't look at my hair! Hope some of this helps while you're going through this. I feel your pain. This is the worst part of all for me. I have considered looking into wigs/hairpieces/extensions, but I am too chicken (also, for extensions, you actually have to have HAIR for it to attach to! LOL) I am going to the OB/GYN in a few weeks to look into HRT to see if it helps me. Wish me luck! Marce

hey, My hairstylist said if you use it and quit, it will make the newer hairs fall out, so she said you are better not to use it. My doc said up your zinc, as that is what causes the hair to fall out! Try eating foods high in zinc, nuts and such. Its normal and won't last forever, it will even out around 12 months, been there and done that ;) Love, Deb
