The class was very informative. We received a binder to keep all our paperwork in when we attend classes and a nutrition exchange book (it helps you convert different foods as replacements so that you are getting in the right amount of nutrients even if you dont want to eat the same thing each day). We also got a cute journal to keep track daily of what we eat/drink/exercise as well as a nice calendar in the back with stickers to keep track of classes and doctors appointments. She (Debbie the nutritionist that we have nicknamed "Diet Debbie") advised to transition slowly into solid foods and only do it when you feel ready. Just because it hits 30 days does not mean you have to give up puree and if you see the weight stop, it's ok to go back to puree for a few days/weeks etc. She said be careful how you introduce food as well so you'll know what causes dumps if that happens. She said one lady dumped and called her to find out why, she asked what the lady ate and she said a hotdog with ketchup. Well Debbie said that she didn't know what made the lady dump because she had just eaten 3 things (the hotdog, the bun, and ketchup). She just wanted us to see what she means by introduce one thing a day, if it works, eat it again the next day and if it still works then you can put it on your safe list and try something else the next day. Dr. O'Neil also had a class for those who may be struggling with career, marriage, financial stresses or other stress in their lives. I believe the support groups are very important but the timing is not always good (our work schedules don't always allow us time to go) but like Debbie said, if you can, try to schedule to come at least once a month or every other month just to continue to get the support and education you need to be successful. I guess if I can take half a day to go shopping I can occassionally take half a day to learn about helping myself. I hope to see you all at one of the classes. I met one of our Obesityhelp members there and it was nice to see someone in person and share ideas/issues. Thanks for listening you all. Robin
