Hi Everyone, It feels good to be home and surgery went well but hospital stay was terrible! God forbid you get any rest there. I was so glad to get out. I have been feeling yuky the last few days Ive been home but trying to do some walking to get rid of this awful gas! The morphine they gave me at the hospital gave me a really bad side effect. I was up all night itching all over every inch of my body. It drove me crazy so I didnt get any sleep I finally had to tell them to STOP giving me morphne and to get something else. They had to ask the surgeon of course and he gave a liquid med to take that worked so much better so I finally got some sleep All I can say now is I am SO HUNGRY!! Ive been eating my broth, Jello and Ice pops and drinking my water but it doesnt seem to kill these hunger pains. Forget abou****ching TV ! All those food commercals drive me crazy LOL! Im hanging in there as much as possible just doing what Im suppose to do. Well, Im going to get some rest now. Im feeling tired and need to take my pain meds. I had a tough nite last night with the pain Take Care all and I will keep you posted. Denise

Oh, hun welcome home. Boy do I feel your pain. I had my surgery 2 weeks ago and had lots of pain and yes I was hunger as @#$% when I got home. Doesn't it seem like there are about 2 or 3 commercials for food during each commercial break? I couldn't believe it and never noticed until now. It's even harder when my husband goes in the kitchen and fries up some bacon or chicken or something and the smell just lingers in the air. When I finally got sick of eating broth and baby food fruits I tried some really watery cheese grits, some plain oatmeal with some milk, butter, and splenda on mixed in (it makes it sweet and good). I blended the noodles and chicken pieces from chicken noodle soup to give it a new taste with a little consistency too. I boiled some french cut green beans in a pot with a smoked neck bone (don't try to blend the neckbone since it is cured in sugar, just use it to get the flavor into the beans) I added some lawry's seasoned salt (about 1 tablespoon) and texas pete hotsauce (about a teaspoon) for about 45 minutes until the beans were really soft. I took a 1/2 cup of the broth and a 1/2 cup of the beans and put it in the blender on puree and honey it was great. I actually felt like I was eating normal stuff. I also made some mashed potatoes (instant idaho spuds in the box) and used some of the gravy from my family's smothered pork chops they were eating and it was like a little piece of heaven. You can do this but it will be hard trust me, I thought I was going to loose it until I started trying new stuff. 4 weeks is a long time on puree food. I've licked doritos and bought a can of armour potted meat just so I can have some meat with consistency. I even tried a cracker yesterday! Did you know if you chew it for a really long time that it turns to puree mush in your mouth? Make sure you buy some with no sugar and you'll be fine. I'm loosing anywhere from a pound or two a day. Be sure to take your pain meds every 4 hrs for the first week or so too. Don't give your body a chance to let it get totally out of your system cause you'll pay for it then. Even try to wake up down in the night to take it, you'll get some peaceful rest and will allow your body time to start healing. I literally was only able to eat 3 or 4 bites every meal so my mom (I stayed with her for 4 days and she helped so much) had me either eat or drink something every hr. Hope this helps some, email me if you want to talk. [email protected] Robin
