Myrtle Beach Members? Advice please!

Hubby has applied for a transfer to the Cinemark in Myrtle Beach. IF he gets it (can we say stress, I just started another semester of school!) can you all tells us good/bad/cheap/expensive areas to live? Average cost of renting a house/condo/apartment? We have 2 dogs too, so I know that will be an issue in finding a place. Any other tips or advice about the area? Thanks in advance!

I'm originally from Myrtle Beach but a lot has changed since I actually lived there. However, all my family is still there. I guess the most reasonable place to live would be west of the Intercoastal Waterway. Carolina Pines/Forestbrook/Socastee/Conway areas. I can't really tell you the cost of things there anymore - sorry! But you can check the local paper there - The Sun News - and maybe get some ideas. Hope this helps! Susan

Rebeka, I live in carolina shores, n.C. Which is about 30 min from myrtle beach. I agree w/ the last poster, the best prices are usually west of the intercoastal waterway. Personally I'd try to stay away from the forestbrook hwy 501 area as it's become very congested. There are so many nice areas, little river, conway, aynor, north myrtle beach and the prices range from $650.00 up. You can go on line @ myrtlebeach.com and they have alot of information. Please keep in mind that Myrtle Beach is a big tourist town. From May to September it is wide open. So, from GardenCity to North Myrtle Beach is going to be congested and very busy. On the flip side you will always have something to do. We are planning a get together for our support group the 3rd week in March, in Myrtle Beach.
