HI, I'm new to this site

Hi everyone, My bypass surgery is scheduled for the 13th of February, I am soo excited. Does anyone have any tips to do for pre surgery. thanks, Melanie

Welcome Melanie and congrats on your surgery date! I think you will find that everyone on here is caring and supportive. Any questions you have do not hesitate even if you think it might be embarrassing most everyone has been through it. My advice to you pre-op is to follow whatever your doc is telling you and enjoy the last few weeks of your "old" life. I am 3 weeks post op and it's different on the other side! Different , but great.

Hi Melanie, I read several books, Weight Loss Surgery for Dummies by Barbra Thompson, she wrote several books that are helpful! Buy Press and Seal for your drain site, it helps and does not hurt like surgery tape!! Welcome to the site, you will find some great and helpful people on this site!!! Patti

Hi Melanie! Welcome! In addition to Weight Loss for Dummies, I highly recommend _Before and After_ by Susan Maria Leach. I checked it out from the library before my surgery (they have it at Richland County Public Library), and was so impressed I purchased a copy. Blessings! Lisa

I have Dr Strickland and I will be at Lexington Medical Center too. How far out are you from surgery and how was Dr Strickland as a surgeon? thanks for your reply to my post :)

I love Dr. Strickland and I am almost 9months out. I have lost 123 pounds so far. Went from 3X to mostly 8/10. Check out my profile by clicking on my name and you can read about it..the most current is on top and down bottom and previous is the beginning. Any other questions email me. [email protected]. I love their care and support group which is every 1st Wed of month in the same building as Dr. Strickland's Lex Med Ctr of but downstairs in the conference room to left as you enter the building.
