Questions about Lap Band for those post-op
I NEVER HAD THAT, BUT I HAVE THE BURPS AFTER I EAT, LIKE THE AIR HAS TO ESCAPE AS THE FOOD GOES DOWN FROM MY POUCH TO MY INTESTINES - THERE'S NO EXTRA ROOM ONCE THE FOOD IS SWALLOWED, IT SEEMS. I CAN BURP 10-15 TIMES IN A ROW ... STILL NOW EVEN 14 MONTHS POST OP.
THE FART-O-RAMA SEEMS TO SETTLE DOWN QUICKLY FOR MOST PEOPLE. NOT SURE HOW THAT EFFECTS LAP BANDERS.
THE KIDS WOULD HAVE A FUN TIME WITH YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!

Well, either way, I wouldn't let that make up my mind which surgery to get....that is silly!
To me, and others I know, Gastric Bypass is much better than lap band. Lap band is in a way, a temporary fix, and you can still eat bad foods and you have to rely on discipline to stay away from like milk shakes and things. With RNY, if you eat bad, you pay the price, and it works better.
Do more research and as far as gas, I didn't "pass gass" more than normal or less, but I do burp more.
I would definitely research RNY a lot more and use other qualifiers than gas to determine what is best, what works best, and who in the long run keeps the weight off. RNY'ers do better in the long run, and while there might be more upfront costs in the terms of paying for pain and surgery, with lap band you have to keep going in and guessing how much to fill your band to make it work and so forth, and you can still go to Wendy's on the way home and eat a frosty and it goes down easy and you have no penalty. So on birthdays and such, and other rewards, its easier to cheat. I just know myself well enough that if I could have cheated, I NEVER would have lost 145lbs.
Take care and Good Luck!
God Bless
