Anyone know how to make a latte?
Yeah,
You have to have a latte machine that will frothe the milk. My hubby got mine at BBand Beyond, and it was like $250 plus 25% off. They have those coupons. So, anyway, make sure your machine has at least 15 bars of pressure and is not the kind that takes pods.
You just put your skim milk in a stainless steel container and turn it to frothe, and when the temp reaches 160* it is frothed. Then I clean out my frother with water, and I only use distilled purified water so it won't gunk up.
Then I turn the machine to coffee, and I do a double shot of doubles, and I use 1 capful of caramel syrup, and 1 capfuls of vanilla syrup and about 8 splendas and I pour my espresso into my milk and then into my large Starbucks plastic mug.
Its easy, but sort of a pain. I think the brand name without going downstairs, is a Beretti?? Its more stainless steel and we had a capressio and it was a piece of junk so we took it back. You have to sort of try em. Save your box and your reciept and make a few and see which one works. Krups is crap, so stay away from them.
I went to www.wholelattelove.com and researched them first.
Take care, and yummy!!! Remember they stain your teeth and the caffeine works on ya fast!! But, its low calories and sweet and yummy!!

Those latte's are my favorite and I asked for a machine for Christmas and got it. Wal-mart had one for about $25. Bed, Bath, and Beyond has a Krups for $50. I tried doing one in the microwave, just to get the milk heated and that worked but no froth. The instructions suggest you use a bold roast, French or Italian. When you get a machine it will give you instructions on how to make a cappaciano, same thing as a latte just more froth. Make sure if you get a machine that you also pick up a frothing pitcher, they do not come with it. You can also use a coffee mug that is ceramic, that is what I do and it works well.
The Torani syrups are the best! My favorite is sugar free Irish creme but they have the best selection of the sugar free syrups I have ever seen. I do not need to sweeten my like Deb does.
Good luck, I love doing my own and know that after about 10 latte's made at home, the machine has paid for it self.

It was a Mr. Coffee. However the instruction are not that clear. I did not realize this until I thought the frothing arm did not work and went and got the Krups. You have to leave some water in the machine to steam the milk. I do not remember reading that in the Mr. Coffee instructions. So you can image how much an idiot I felt like when I returned that one and got the Krups.
Oh Well.
Have fun

I actually got the Walmart off brand that I like better than the Mr Coffee. My Mr Coffee stopped frothing the milk after about 6 weeks.
The best thing that I love is to buy the vanilla flavored coffee beans, grind them very very finely and make the expresso. If I really have the "I could eat a whole cheesecake" feeling, I will use some of the no fat half n half instead of the skim milk. It makes the latte so rich its like dessert. A few shots of sugar free syrup, some whipped cream on top and I'm in heaven. Not the healthiest, but its definately a treat.
