embarrassing questions for those who have gone before
Whoa nelly am I sore. anyhoo, on to the embarrassing questions. I have already called my doc but it's good to hear from all of you too sooo... did any of you get your period back after your surg? Mine came back with a vengeance! I was on my period in pre op and now it's back and I am soo bloated that I feel like I'm going to bust out of my staples!!! so here I am only 4 days at home and I can't figure out why my abdomen feels so bloated and tight. I seemed to blow up over night. I don't think i am constipated and most of what I eat is clear liqiuds and baby food stuff like prunes and applesauce. any advice?
YUP, I HAD 2 MAJOR PERIODS CLOSE TOGETHER RIGHT AFTER SURGERY. MUCH MORE THAN NORMAL FOR ME. NOT TO WORRY, BUT BE SURE TO GET AS MUCH FLUID IN AS POSSIBLE. THE MORE FLUIDS YOU DRINK, THE MORE YOUR BODY WILL RELEASE YOUR BODY FLUIDS BEING HELD FROM THE SURGERY & FROM YOUR PERIOD. IT'S THE LAST THING YOU WILL WANT TO DO, BUT DRINK, DRINK, DRINK ... CLEAR FLUIDS (not MILK BASED AS MUCH) LIKE WATER, CRYSTAL LITE, MINUTE MAID LITE FRUIT FLAVORED DRINKS, & SPLENDA TEA.
&, NOTHIN' IS EMBARRASSING HERE ON THE BOARD. OUR BODIES DO A LOT OF FUNNY THINGS AFTER GASTRIC BYPASS ... WE'VE ALL BEEN THROUGH MOST OF IT SO ASK AWAY.
GOD BLESS YOU ... DAWN & NICk
Honey....Ask away.....If you want to feel better about your questions read the post on my profile about not trusting a poot!!
I had nasty periods during my first month after surgery. I went to my doctor's office demanding to be taken off the pill because it wasn't being absorbed and I was gonna have a period every 2 weeks. He assured me that the pill was being absorbed and that my body was just recovering from a major ordeal!!! After a month, things got better and straightened out. The good thing is that you lose a good bit of weight when you have your period...so let it flow (sorry about the pun). Hope you feel better soon. It will pass.

I had not been home a week when I got mine. I had cramps but the pain meds I was on worked on my cramps too so that part wasn't to bad. I was bloated for a couple weeks after I came home. I think it was from the surgery and my period, I felt like I needed to pass gas but couldn't so I started taking a gas-x once a day it helped. Also don't worry about being embarrassed we all have had things happen we wish wouldn't have. I was embarrassed on the 2 hour drive home from Beaufort. I had to stop to go to the bathroom several times, the movement of the car made me have to go right then. I HATE being sick in a public bathroom and there is always someone waiting to go in after you and you know you left the place smelly
so the ride home was long and awful. Anyway things are better now and hope you feel better soon..Sandra http://www.choosing2lose.com/tickers/4599d7d525fc2/weightloss.png
