Over Age 65? Need Surgeon for WLS..HELP!

Hello! Please Help! I need a surgeon with cert. of Exelence who does WLS on patients with Medicare insurance and over age 65. In SC or NC if medicare will pay out of state..not sure about how medicare works. This information is for a dear friend. Thanks!! Janet

I know Dr. Bour doesnt discriminate on age/size/ or anything.. and i believe the hosp he operates at is almost finished with the process of being certified.. their number for his office is 864-676-1072.. Thank you, Jen! This is great news about Dr Bour and his pending Cert. of Exellence!! I have heard such great reviews on his work!! My friend could go ahead and fill out all the necessary paper work and hopefully by the time the surgeon is cert. she'll be able to have the surgery!! We are in Fort mill, SC so it is a long way from home, but my friend is willing to do what ever it takes! She is so excited about WLS, but she became so discouraged finding the COE facilities surgeons near by here and over into Charlotte, NC have age limits for patients!! Thanks again for the info! Thanks Stephie! Just one problem...on Dr. Ross' profile, he has a limit on age..he doesn't do surgery on people over 65. My friend is 66. I appreciate your response! Janet

Don't let that stop your friend ... "Rules" are always bent here & there. Especially if she is in considerably good health, he may take her on as a Gastric Bypass Patient since you're just talking a year. It never hurts to ask ... &, even ask again!

Yes, Dr Byrne is ... They were certified in 2006. Personsally, he's one of the best Gastric Bypass Surgeons in the nation.
