Well we got him there finally yesterday after Dr bour called and told him it wasnt an option and said asked what he had to do to get him in the hospital.. and dad said i guess i dont have a choice ill be there in a lil bit. .so we got there and they put him in ICU.. Dr B was there and was in there with him for a long while. they ran test, chest xray was good, blood work was good no infection, his kidney function was elevated and his sugar was 200.. they didnt start an insulin drip bc it wasnt dangerously high . this morning his sugar is 250 so theyre starting him on Regular Insulin rather than the nph (time released) he has been on for 20 some years. Dr B Said its all bc of his size, and his length of time his body has been accustomed to not leveling its own sugars that it will take time to start functioning properly on its own.. He said he was going to keep him until his sugar comes down to normal range. dads not a happy camper he thought he might get sprung today but nope.. theyre going to move him to a regular room today and put him back on his full liquid diet. keep praying for him please , bc he is very impatient and it sounds like to me that patience will be a virtue during this time!!! I'm glad to hear that it wasn't total kidney failure. Looks like things will be under control soon. Tell your dad that we are all thinking about him and we know how much being in the hospital sucks. (My dad is the exact same way about going to the doctor or being in the hospital.) Keep an eye on him Jen, and if he gives you anymore trouble about going to the hospital when he needs to, just let us know. I'm sure he doesn't want the bunch of of Upstate ladies showing up to whoop on him! Kathy

Will pray still!! I know his body must be thinking, what the heck happened, and it was trying to figure it out. Glad he had the surgery though, it really will help his diabetes. With this setback though, it is just a hiccup. Glad he did not have total kidney failure and that the meds are working. I know as he loses weight, and they really watch his sugar and insulin, he will come off of it as he loses Praying for him to be patient and for him to be a good patient...haha Deb

JUST TIE HIM TO THE BED, MS JEN! MEN ARE SUCH "PITAs" WHEN IT COMES TO BEING SICK! THIS ISN'T SURPRISING ... REMEMBER THAT HE WAS IN POOR HEALTH BEFORE THE SURGERY, SO HIS BODY HAS A HUGE COMEBACK TO MAKE, BUT HE'LL PULL THROUGH WITH FLYING COLORS. ONE THING THAT HAPPENS IS THAT ONCE YOU START CHANGING YOUR DIET CHOICES & ALLOW THE POUCH TO DO IT'S JOB, YOUR BODY BEGINS TO REGAIN IT'S BALANCE & BECOMES MORE & MORE HEALTHY. THE SAME WILL HAPPEN WITH YOUR DAD! ONCE HE'S OVER THIS BEGINNING PERIOD OF ADJUSTMENT, HE'LL GET BETTER & BETTER! LOOKING FORWARD TO GREAT REPORTS ON DAD! GOD BLESS Y'ALL ... DAWN & NICK
