i didnt tell i had wls!,did u?

I told the whole family and was surprized at how many knew someone who had wls. Some were very positive and others were neg. . As long as you are positive that is what is important. When they see how good you look and how happy it makes you some will change their minds and those that dont its their lose.

I told everyone and their dogs. I lost 2 friends because of it I don't care, and I still tell people about it and I can't tell you how many have told me that I was one of the reasons they had the surgery. I just feel its one of the things I can do to give back what has been given to me....a new life, a chance for healthy living and a LONG life ;) My mom needs the surgery, but she says she doesn't have the willpower and likes to eat too much. Now she is dying, literally, and needs an arterial leg vein graft bypass and also is diabetic, alcoholic, and smokes. She would have to give up smoking and drinking to get the surgery, so she says that if she can't live the way she wants to, then its not worth living......what kinda answer is that??? I am prepared for her death, but she is not saved, so it pains me to think of her in eternal hell, forever, and ever, no 2nd chances. All I can do is pray. Tell everyone, it will help!!! Deb

I started with just my immediate family and best freinds. They were over the moon for me. I told just my boss and the idiot coworker I work with, because of the time I need off. After I was approved, I told the world. I wanted to make sure that everything was in place and it was going to happen before I let other people know. Now I shout it from the mountain tops. I could not be happier. I even have had to restrain myself from telling every obese person I see about how the surgery has changed my world. I have found that people really do no****ch me like a hawk and are not waiting for me fall flat on my face. The only negative thing I got was at the beginning of the week from my idiot coworker, see my post. But she later said she was sorry. Yea right. But the choice to tell people or not is yours. I have only gotten, for the most part, positive feedback. Julie

Like you, Ms Julie, I have to stop myself from running up to obese people & telling them all about WLS ... Sometimes I just want to cry for them, especially when I see that "fat waddle" we all had that lets everyone know how much pain we were in ... Ohhhh, I just ache for others when I see them walking like that. Sooooooooo, since it would probably be so hurtful for me to blurt out something about WLS, then I just say a prayer for them that at the right time in their lives, someone will be able to give them the information on WLS that they will need to save their lives from the pain & health issues we are all so familiar with. That way I feel I've done something positive for those who have not been blessed yet with WLS. But, let me tell you, if there is an opportunity to talk about WLS, I'm a jabber jaw about it! Of course you never push anyone who is scared or would be hurt by your message ... When you said that you had negative people in your life ... Or, they were negative about your surgery, I took that to mean that they were mean or negative towards you for having the surgery. Many of the girls have had people tell them garbage like "if they would just try harder, they would lose the weight without surgery" ... Stuff like that. When I say "negative people", I mean mean-spirited people who try to hurt someone when they are trying to improve themself while the mean-spirited person is doing nothing positive in their own lives. Your daughter must come to her own point of decision when she is ready ... As does anyone about anything in their lives - we can only offer support & information ...
