Thanks Cathy... Your time will come soon. Congrats on taking your life into your hands. My parents were a little leary about the surgery to start with but I knew I would have their support if I did it. Like your Husband, I made my Mom coming to all the meetings with me and she felt better about the whole surgery. We just then had to put my Dad at easy. I was lucky, until the other day, I have had unwaivering support from friends and family. I wish you luck on this journey and if there is anything you need please ask. Julie

Hey Julie, Sorry you had to deal with a jealous, insecure, jerk who obviously only stayed friends with you while you were overweight so that she would stand out more and not have to address her own selfish insecurities (sorry did I hammer that nail or what?). I was told by my surgeon that several people who have the surgery loose relationships such as friends/spouses/ and family. He says that when we loose weight, we often change our way of thinking as well and have an extreme boost of confidence that once layed dormit. You are a different person honey, you are not the same Julie that had to take a bunch of crap off of people because you felt "lucky" to have a friend. You can call the shots now, if a person makes you angry tell them about it and move on. You can meet all kinds of new people and make new healthy lifelong friendships. I think its great that she showed you who she really was before you REALLY needed her to be there for you. Maya Angelou often states "when a person shows you who they are, believe them the first time". This means don't try to fix a person and think "well maybe they were having a bad day", or "I'm sure she/he wouldn't talk about me behind my back like that". Yes they will. Trust me, I am loosing friends already just by telling them I'm having the surgery done. It hurts a bit but I'm glad GOD is revealing this to me now. Keep your head up hun, put on that rain slicker and let the crap roll right off your back. Don't stop talking about your wonderful success just because others can't handle taking a long look at their own flaws. Hell, we all have them just in different ways. Tell her your friend Robin said "Get over it chick!"

I LOVE THAT QUOTE, MS ROBIN - ABOUT BELIEVING THE TRUE NATURE OF PEOPLE. I WAS ALWAYS THE STRONG, NICE ONE PUTTING UP WITH EVERYONE'S GARBAGE ... GIVING OTHERS CHANCE AFTER CHANCE. WHEN I MET MY NICK, SOMETHING CLICKED INSIDE ME THAT FELT SO RIGHT ... THAT LIFE IS SUCH A FRAGILE GIFT THAT WE MUST JEALOUSLY GUARD THE QUALITY OF OUR DAILY LIVES WITH WISDOM & WISE DECISIONS. IT CAME HOME TO ME WHEN REALIZING THAT I HAD ALLOWED MY ENTIRE ADULT LIFE TO BE CONTROLLED BY & MADE MISERABLE BY OTHER PEOPLE & THEIR CRUELTIES ... ALWAYS MAKING EXCUSES FOR THEM & GIVING THEM CHANCE AFTER CHANCE. NOW, PEOPLE GET A COUPLE OF "OOPSIES" BUT IF THEY CONTINUE TO BE AWFUL THEN THEY ARE NO LONGER WELCOMED INTO OUR LIVES UNTIL THEY CHANGE FOR THE BETTER. I NO LONGER LOWER MY STANDARDS TO ACCOMODATE OTHERS WHO WANT TO LIVE LESS OF A GOOD LIFE THAN I THINK IS APPROPRIATE. NICK & I DECIDED IN THE BEGINNING THAT WE HAD BOTH LOST 3 DECADES OF HAPPINESS TO OTHERS *****FUSED TO BE HAPPY AT OUR EXPENSE & THAT NO MATTER WHAT OR WHO IT COST US, WE WERE RESPONSIBLE FOR OUR OWN LIVES & HAPPINESS SO WE MAKE THE RULES IN OUR REALM. WHAT OTHERS WANT TO DO IN THEIR LIVES IS THEIR BUSINESS, BUT WE HAVE THE RIGHT & RESPONSIBILITY TO SAY, "NO, NOT IN OUR LIVES!" WE'VE LOST ALL BUT A COUPLE OF FRIENDS ... WE'VE LOST 2 OF HIS SONS & MAYBE A THIRD, BUT WE NOW HAVE THE MOST WONDERFUL FAMILY & PEOPLE IN OUR LIVES ... WE MAY NOT HAVE THE RICHES OF THE WORLD, BUT BEFORE I CLOSE MY EYES AT NIGHT, I THANK GOD FOR THE SWEET, LOVING, TENDER-HEARTED MAN SLEEPING NEXT TO ME ... FOR MY PARENTS WHO HAVE "BEEN THERE" FOR NICK & I THROUGH EVERYTHING & WHO WE CAN NOW GIVE BACK TO IN THEIR NEED ... FOR OUR MOST LOVING, CARING DAUGHTER, NATALIE ... FOR OUR GRANDCHILDREN WHO THROW THEIR ARMS AROUND US & TELL US HOW MUCH THEY LOVE US ... FOR OUR GOOD FRIENDS SUSAN & MIKE WHO KNOW OUR WARTS AS WE KNOW THEIRS & YET WE ARE JOINED WITH LOVING RESPECT ... FOR SOME OF THE MOST UNDERSTANDING, GIVING FRIENDS WE HAVE FOUND WITHIN OUR GASTRIC BYPASS FAMILY ... FOR THOUGHTFUL, PRAYERFUL FRIENDS AT CHURCH ... NOW, EACH OF THEM IS A PRECIOUS GIFT IN OUR LIVES & FOR THEM, WE ARE SO THANKFUL! REMEMBER, YOU CAN'T EVER LOSE A TRUE FRIEND ... &, YOU CAN'T EVER KEEP A FALSE "FRIEND", EITHER. GOD'S BLESSINGS TO ALL ... DAWN & NICK
