MY EMOTIONS ARE HEYWIRE?
My emotions are at wits end.......Iwent back to work on Wednesday - 2 1/2 weeks post surgery. I worked fine on Wednesay, got very tired...Thursday I made it a little over 6 hours and Friday I was totally exhausted....My daughter is pregnant around 6-8 weeks and her emotions are upside down and my emotions are upside down, needless to say my husband is upside down now!
I've lost 18 pounds 2 1/2 weeks post, but can't seem to lose anymore.....
am I rushing it, am I expecting too much.....
Will the walking help me get more weight off? I've been so tired, I have't been walking as I know I should, so maybe that will help me get more strength back.
I wasn't able to get enough protein in, so I started with the whey protein and that's been helping somewhat....
What else can get me moving.....and stronger.....and losing .......
H E L P!
Linda

Hey Linda,
Here I am gettng ready to give you the same speech that I got from everyone of my friends on here. You are at the same point I was that I had my first stall. It lasted a week and it was the most emotional week I have had since my surgery on Oct. 31. I had to make myself stop weighing everyday and settle on once a week. It is hard to do, but you will find out that your going to have stalls. The inches will be dropping off during those stalls. I didn't believe it until I got out the tape measure and was able to get clothes on that wouldn't fit the week before my surgery. I actually dropped an amazing 6 inches off my hips in that stall period.
I went back to work at 2 1/2 weeks post op, and I thought I was going to die the first 3 days. I work on my feet all day and worked 13 hours all 3 days. I hurt all over and was regreting going back so soon. It is better each day, as I realize I have to get moving and keep moving. So try to get your protein in and lots of water. I get so dry I find myself constantly drinking water and never leave the house without my water bottle. Your not doing anything wrong, its just one of the many stalls you will experience during your WL. I promise it will start moving again, mine did and I have lost a total of 3 pounds since the stall ended, thats 3 in less than 5 days.
So keep up the good work and don't get dicouraged.
Mary

Hang in there Sweetie!!
Your body has been through a lot, and even though you are well enough to go back to work, you are still recovering from a major surgery!! And after a days work, you should be tired!!!
Right now, be sure to get in your vitamins, protein and water. Try to walk 30 min a day, but only as much as your body will allow. Until you are about 6 weeks or more, you may not get all the walking in. Just focus on vitamins, protein and water. If you don't get it all in, you will feel sluggish.
18 pounds in 2 weeks is about normal (of course the more you weigh, the more you will lose). Try not to get too caught up in what the scale says, because a lot of the time you are losing inches.
You will be fine!!
Hugs,
Dianne

Hey Linda,
Couldn't agree more with the above posts...for what it is worth and from a male perspective, I too did the emotional roller-coaster for a few days, don't despair, this too will pass. One thing I would seriously consider is locking up the scale somewhere and only taking it out every two weeks or so. Will help greatly with the emotional thing because you can pretty much guarantee that you will see pounds coming off in the span of two weeks. Thankfully, being retired I did no have to do the work thing...I admire you for going back so soon, that must be tough. You might try adding cottage cheese to your diet; it is easy on the pouch and gives you a big portion of protein without a lot of calories. I eat the "Breakstone 2% small curd" with a bit of Splenda sprinkled on top. One of the OR nurses at MUSC told me about it and now is a big part of my daily nutrition. Feel free to call anytime if you (or hubby) just want to talk a bit.

Linda...I saw mIke's post about adding cottage cheese w/splenda....I add SF raspberry jam to mine and it is soo good and the protein is great too.
Hang in their and do the measuring tape more than the scale. I enter my measurements every month on the 25th since that is when I had surgery...April 25. Then I tally the inches and faint a lot...HAHAHA
Keep up the good wirk.
In Christ,
Joan M
Wow, you are doing GREAT!! Ditto what everyone else has said. ;) I've learned that there are no rules, and everyone is different, so you CAN'T compare!
But it looks like you are doing just fine, and everything sounds normal! I still have trouble being extra moody...my hubby and I rarely argue, but I've started a few arguments from being so moody, that's for sure! lol Chin up, Linda...you are doing great! Give your body time to adjust and recover.
Hugs,
Elizabeth

I'm 2 weeks post-op and my emotions are all over the board too. I think it is normal. My biggest problem so far has been portion control. My head still thinks I can eat a lot but when I overdo it I end up paying for it. It's been pretty bad but I hope I am getting better now. I have lost 14 lbs since surgery on 11/13/06. I am not getting enough protein in but I can't stand the supplements either. They all make me feel sick. So I am trying to get in as much as I can with food. My diet consists of soup, soup, and more soup. Every time I try something different with more substance I get sick. So I am trying to stick to soup and as much water as I can get in.
Luckily, I haven't run out of energy though. Are you taking your B-12? That might help boost your energy level. Good luck. I think the first month or so is the hardest, don't you? Thank God for this website! A lot of my questions have been answered on the website without me having to ask so I guess pretty much everyone goes through the same things.
Take care,
Susan
