nov 29th surgery date

whats up my name is nate and i am new t te boardss here i am having my surgery nov 29th i just had my vena cava filter insertion this past monday that sucked i am going back to worl tomorrow then ina week and a half my sugery nov 29th little nervous but thats normal any one here have the sugery by dr givens ???

Welcome!! I had mine in Charleston, MUSC, Dr. Byrne. Sorry you had to have the filter put in, but you will be up walking around after its over. The bypass did not hurt as bad as the bile duct surgery I just went through. Are you going to have it open or closed? I know most guys have it open because they tend to gain around the middle, which is harder to operate on. I had mine lap. I wish you the best, and remember, God is with you and will be with you throughout the procedure and recovery. You will not regret it, and it will be the best thing you have ever done. God Bless Deb

Hey there I didn't have Dr. G but Dr. Stirckland did my procedure...I had to have the filter put in too. You are going to love your doctors!!! They are the greatest. My friend, Lisa, had Dr. G. I will ask her to post to you too. I was very nervous about a week before my surgery...the day of my surgery I was ok. I just knew that all was going to be fine!!! BTW --- LMC is a great place to have your surgery...you will love the new rooms at the hospital and the staff on the floor is GREAT!!!! --Kelly

Dr. Givens did my surgery on 12/15/2006. He is awesome! Everything went smoothly, and he did a fabulous job. I had almost no post-op pain (once the staples were out) and my little scars have almost faded completely away. He even has a great bedside manner (something that's relatively unusual in a surgeon!). I admit, I was really nervous, too, I was determined to go through with it, and it's the best thing I've ever done for myself. If you have any questions, feel free to ask! I'll be glad to answer anything I can. I can also come visit you while you're in the hospital, if you'd like for me to -- I work in the library at Lexington.
