Got a Date

My surgery is tentatively set up for 13 December 2006 if everything else comes back okay. Will travel from Myrtle Beach to Atlanta for the sugery as Dr. Smith is the closest and best trained Duodenal Switch doctor with a Center of Excellence certification. May consider flying home as it is a very long ride.

Congratulations! I do recommend you fly home -- I had my surgery (gastric bypass not Duodenal Switch) last December 15, and we drove from Columbia to my parents' home in Charleston for Christmas, and it really got to me, even though we did stop halfway and have lunch and walk around. And that was only two hours! Congratulations on your surgery date -- that's awesome! Lisa

Sooooooooooo glad to hear that you have a surgery date, GF! You will not believe how much this will impact your health! Absolutely consider flying ... You will not feel like taking a long car trip a few days after surgery. I had about a 30 minute ride back home ... Held a pillow tight against my tummy to cushion the bumps & was sooooooo happy to get out of that car & into my bed & couch! God bless you ... Dawn & Nick
