LCBB question
Are you taking multiple pills?? and vitamins??
I take Vista Vitamins and they are all inclusive, so no extras needed, 1 pill does it all. 1 pkg in the AM 1 pkg in the PM, however, I only take 1pkg per day because of kidney stone issues, so I had to cut back on my calcium.
Anyway...my box of Vistas has 120mcg per pkg, and all my blood work has been normal. These are bariatric vitamins, and Dr. Byrne said to stay on them.
I am pretty vigilant about vitamins cause after we go through so much, I can't risk my health to Barney or Fred, and my personal pet peeve are people who go through so much, but won't spend a little more to put the best in their bodies
My new doctor here has also said its imparative to get the best bariatric vitamins. He has had several patients (they are now doing a study at UCI..like MUSC) because they have had neuropothy due to low copper. Make sure your vitamins also have micro nutrients as well as the majors.
Okay, enough of me being a nurse.....
If you stay around 250mcg. per day, you are fine

Hey Deb,
Where can I get the Vista Vitamins? I haven't had my surgery yet but I went to go buy vitamins and now I have to give a whole bottle to the kids (I didn't read the label on the kiddie vitamin and when I got home the first ingredient is sugar!)
I don't want to have to try to figure out each day how many of this one and skip this one but take that one. Simple is the only way that I'll be successful. Thanks in advance hun!
Robin

Thanks girls, the recommendation from the handout book was what I was wondering about!
Deb- YES I take a TON of pills a day! Lets see- 2 multivitamins, 3 calcium citrates (not sure of the dosage each, whatever the book said postop), B12 (2 pills 100mcg each), and my prescribed pills- singulair and zyrtec for my horrible allergies and paxil so I dont act like my mom! I take all the prescribed pills and one vitamin in the morning, then the rest throughout the day, I feel like I take pills all day long! Tell me about the ones you're taking- is there no concern about taking calcium and iron together, I've always been taught not to.
Rebecca
Sorry,
Didn't mean to sound like your mom. I just personally hate taking a thousand pills for vitamins, and when I asked Dr. Byrne about these, he said that actually was better, but that many people won't spend the money on them. I told him how could you go through all this and not want the best??
The vitamins are all inclusive, and I have never had any problems with my labs, so about the iron and calcium and vita C together, obviously they have worked that out in the labs, so I heard that too, but if it were a problem, they would mix it up.
Do what works for you, but for me, that was easier. I figured it costs me $4.31 per week for my vitamins, so not a problem. I tried Centrum before when I forgot to re-order in time and they were the chewables, and they made me dump with the sugar, even though they were $11.00 for 30 days, but I took 2 per day to make it work out and I gave them to my son, they were made for adults, but chewable form. The pharmacist helped me pick them out according to my empty box, so obviously they had sugar, but the box did not say they did.....jerks...LOL
Anywho, you can read the post, keep what you want, throw away the rest, and don't yell at me if its not what you like....I just try to help, and not meant to tell you what to do....if you don't like what you read, delete!
Deb

I get my vistas at www.vistavitamins.com
Makes my life so much easier. If you are pre-op, order the chewables, and then about 3 months out, you will want to switch to the capsules. It was like all of a sudden one day the chewables made me gag!! That was around 3 months, so I then went to the capsules, which are made to dissolve in our special tummys.
I do one package a day, at night, before bed with a few saltines...which always settles my tummy when I am sick feeling. I always can eat a few crackers if I even overeat, and have done this since surgery and it has always helped me....not enough carbs to worry.
Well, vitamins are my pet peeve, I really am a huge proponate of making sure you have the very best you can get!!! The more your body aborbs, the better it is for your body...if it is not absorbing, then you are wasting your money and pouch!!
Hope that helps
Deb

Those are WAY less expensive than I expected from you posts! The B12 I take are $20 a box, so these are definitely an option!
How many pills are in each pack? I was thinking you said one, the website says 4, but either way it's less than I'm taking now and I wouldnt have to remember to take them throughout the day!
Thanks again for the info, these sound great!
