Went to see Cynthia today!

I went to the hospital to see Cynthia today, she seems to be having a rough time right now.Dr. Bour pulled her PCA pump, something about her being overmedicated? Same thing he did to me when my sats dropped. How can you overmedicate with those things, they only give so much every 10 minutes. They still haven't taken her foley out, and she still hadn't started on the blue ice chips or water. She is having nausea, also. Poor thing I hope she feels better tomorrow, I hate to see her miserable. Take care! Mary

nah, you can't "over medicate" but you can become not addicted, but dependant, and not get out of bed and walk and be mobile like you are supposed to. Walking is the best thing for her, and I was only on pain meds for 1 day, and then they pulled mine too. It was okay, cause it made me too sleepy and dry mouth. I hope she will start getting up, it will help, also with nausea too, the morphine is nasty and I got off it and onto something milder asap. Morphine also causes nausea, so if she can just get on something else, and then can get on tylenol or something else, it will really help her...poor baby!!! Thanks for posting!!! I will pray for her now!

Well that worries me. Mom said that they told my dads pre-surgery group yesterday that there was a lady who had surgery this week who is not getting out of the bed, for 2 days straight.. and theyve had to threaten to take the bed away.. I dont know if its the same person, but it sounds like it! Im praying Cynthia gets to feeling better and is up moving around now!! I think not having the support person with her has made this a tougher experience, i couldnt imagine doing it all alone like that! Jen
