I need advice
All my "required" tests are complete... (which only consisted of the psych eval )... now.. what? Do I call the Dr's office and find out the status ? I don't want to seem like a pest.. but I'd like to make sure everything is set and it's all a GO from here... Do I call my insurance company to see if anything has been submitted?

BE A PEST!!! You're in a race to save/change your life, you have every right to pester anywho who holds up that process. I called my doctor, and the insurance company every day for 7 months, 2 weeks, and 3 days until I got approved. I was denied so many times during that time that the doctor even gave up trying and decided not to even bother giving me another surgery date (I had 3 days that came and left before I was approved). They all know me on first name basis. The doctors office even stopped returning my calls so I found out what medical building the doctor's personal business office was in and showed up there a few times too! 
When I finally got approved the doctor laughed so hard and said that he had never met anyone as persistent as I was and admitted that he "never thought you'd get approved". He was so impressed with my determination that he said he knows I'll do well after surgery. I told a friend of mine to strap on her seat belt and get ready for a long bumpy ride. You are going to face lots of road blocks but you have to manuever around them and keep going. Call, call, and call again until someone tells you that you are approved and to come in for surgery. They will tell you when you are approved, but the doctor's office should tell you, and you can call your insurance and ask too...squeaky wheel gets the grease!!
