Follow Up today/Depressed!!!

I am already sooo sick of being out here in CA....pain in the butt!! I have no friends, nothing to do but to lay here everyday and I know no one!! Join my pitty party Sorry, I know it, but I still can't help it!! I went in today and got my staples removed. They said it was such an unusual case that they video taped it. Dr. Nguyen said I am his patient now, and asked if I had heard from Dr. Byrne, and what Dr. Byrne had to say. I told him Dr. Byrne had heard of him and highly recommended him and knew of him very well, and spoke highly of him. He said he would make a point to look him up at the next seminar as they are at the same seminars all the time. He did say they have seen a few cases with low copper levels, and are doing research in it now, and had cases of neuropathy, foot drop, and neuro problems from low copper levels, and to make sure to ask to check all the micro nutrients with the regular blood levels and copper separate. So, those who are due for blood levels, what would it hurt to ask for more tests?? One of the theories is we are all drinking bottled water, so less micro nutrients and if we are not on proper vitamins with proper levels of micro nutrients, we can get into bad trouble. Anyway, that was some interesting news I thought I would pass on. I am healing okay, the staples hurt like hell coming out and I got strep throat/flu from the "wonderfully caring" nurses at the county general type hospital from hell I was in for 4 days!! UCI is awful for nursing care and is older than MUSC! I am so grateful for the wonderful surgeons, and when I mentioned this today, they said, "yeah, we get complaints on that all the time". Dr. Nguyen said I had to start going to his support groups now that I was "his patient" and I almost cracked up. I love, love this guy, good looking, esp for an Asian guy, very, very cute, but cracks me up that he is going to "claim" me as his success patient now from Dr. Byrne..haha So, anywho, I suppose being home alone, Tommy is flying, and still healing, no friends, etc...I am just bumming, feeling sorry for myself....I gotta go to nursing school or something after plastics next month....YEAH!! I am soo sorry you are feeling so blue Deb, If I could I would give you the biggest hg right now. Know that you are truely loved and missed back home. I am happy to know that you found such a great surgeon though, at least I know that if we ever get stationed out in Cali that there is a good option. That is the part that scares me the most about leaving in 2 years lol. I hope you heal from your strep quickly, that stuffis just horrid. I catch it easily, no fun. Its always hard to start over in a new place, but I wouldn't totally turn down the idea of attending his support group. It would be a great place to make new friends and I think it is wonderful that he would even invite you! I always hear complaints from other post ops that have relocated that they can't find a surgeon's support group that will accept them. Once you have a chance to get out of the house, things will be much better. I hope you get to feeling better healthwise soon too! Kathy

Hi Deb, I remember how hard it was for me to relocate to SC from GA! I can't imagine moving across the entire country. I also can relate to being "home alone". My husband travels a lot ... for months at a time, and sometimes being "in charge and alone" can really get to you! I'm glad to know you have found such an excellent Doctor though ... he sounds great. Go to his support groups! You know from past experience that people who have traveled the same road as you can really provide some good support and friendships. That will help you out so much as you get ready for plastics. Hope your strep clears up fast, and that your blues are temporary. Dawn

Hi Deb, Wow you sure have been through hell havent you? So sorry to hear about it and I know how you feel about being alone with no one there to talk with but sure glad your feeling some what better. I guess you just need plenty of rest right now and soon you will be feeling as good as new again. That sucks you got the flu YUKKK! What kind of nurses do they have working there anyway? That would make me crazy. Well it sure seems like your in good hands with Dr Nguyen and he sure seems like he knows whats best. Glad you have a great Dr so no worries there at least.
