Hi everyone, I'm also fairly new to the OH family and have recently found how to talk to others in SC. Is it just me or does time seem to go even slower when you do finally get your surgery date? I'm so happy to speak to others who are patients of Dr.Byrne. I am very excited about the possibility of meeting you all and attending some of the support groups you all speak of. I wanted to ask if any of you have pacemakers or know anyone who has had the WLS with a pacemaker? I'm 31 and got my pacemaker in 2002 but I'm having a hard time finding other WLS patients who have them. Any information would be greatly appreciated. I love you all for all you do and thank you for the support. Oh, I forgot I'm also looking for an angel to help me during the surgery since my husband and Mom are not very supportive. My kids love the idea (they are 12 and 6) but I need a little adult support with such a serious surgery. Thanks in advance for caring and allowing GOD to use you in this very special way,.

First off... Welcome to the SC board! Glad you found us. I had my surgery back in March with Dr. Byrne and had a wonderful experience. I am sorry that I do not have a pace maker so I can not answer those questions on that subject but would be more than happy to help you out any way I can. Even be your angel if you want. If you do not find someone with a pacemaker on the state board, try posting on the main messageboard. There is bound to be someone there with a pacemaker. I am sorry you are not getting a lot of support from your husband and Mom. They might just be scared. A lot of times that is what is going on. Please feel free to ask me anything you want. And if you do not have a better offer, I would be happy to be your angel. Julie

Thank you Julie, I would love to have you be my angel. In a way you already are, thanks for advising me to post on the main board. I'll do that now to see if anyone else has a pacemaker who had the WLS. I've read several post from you and see that you have dedicated your time and efforts towards helping others and for that I thank you. I'm so excited to be afforded the opportunity to have this surgery done. I can't wait. How was Dr.Byrne's bedside manner after the surgery? He seems pretty cut and dry. Can you tell me honestly what happens from the time you show up to the hospital to the first week after coming home? I hear such abbreviated "happy" stories but I just want the whole truth. I think I'm going to be very nervous that morning when I wake up to go to MUSC. Robin
