Doctor Suggestions - Tricare...UGH!

Ok....I have had my surgery...and am doing well in that respect. We are moving to the area. My hubby is being transferred to Goose Creek we have heard....though the Navy is taking their sweet time with the official orders. For you fellow Tricare Standard folk...I need to know who you use as a cardiologist. I want to use Roper St Francis. That is my personal choice...for several reasons. However, when I look on the Tricare site, there are NO cardiologists that come up for that hospital. I think a few are associated with several...but on the site they only list one...Trident. Knowing how reliable tricare can be at times... who knows if the site has the most accurate info. Even so...I am a registered nurse...and am very picky about who I allow to take care of me...so references from "real people" are awesome! My doctors have to really listen...if you know what I mean. I am young...but have many things going on. If you have any suggestions...know any great cardiologists....please let me know! Thanks and have an awesome weekend! Stephanie

I have tricare prime though that is only so I can see the OB of my choice. I wish I could help though I have never needed to see a cardiologist. The only thing I can recommend is when you get here is to talk to the ladies at the tricare office on base they are really very helpful.

I am Tricare Standard, and although we just moved from Charleston to CA, MUSC and its whole array of specialists are my choice for some of the top doctors in the country. I know they also are part of Roper and will refer you. You need to get into the MUSC system and an internal medicine specialist and then you once you go to your internal medicine doc, no matter where you go in MUSC, your doc is always informed, and you will also be part of the followup with the bariatric clinic there. I just had to deal with all this in CA, and my doc back in Charleston told me to stay in a University system and you will never have insurance issues or referral problems, everything will get approved, low co pays and top of the line doctors. My personal opinion, stay away from Trident hospital...bad docs and not great nursing care. I had Dr. John McDonald in Mt Pleasant as my primary care (Internal Medicine) doctor. He was awesome and will call out scripts in the middle of the night. Good Luck, and Welcome to Charleston!! I am jealous!!! Love, Deb
