What kind of vitamins do you take?
I started out on Flintstones, but they just were not strong enough. Considering that they are formulated for the nutritional needs of a 40 # child, no wonder.
My favorite is Optisource chewables & you can get them at Walgreens. You take 4 throughout the day & they are formulated just for gastric bypass patients ... Due to our malabsorption issues, yes, it is important to get a specially-formulated vitamin/mineral supplement just for gastric bypass patients. Also, if it says to take 4 a day, do not take them all at one time because our intestinal receptors cannot absorb all the nutrients at once so spread out the doses throughout the day.
I am now using Vista Vitamins from bariatriceating.com. They are a vitamin/chelated (easily digested) mineral combination specially formulated for WLS patients. You take 4 capsules in the morning & 4 capsules in the evening. I felt a tremendous difference in my energy on them, but I have a little issue with the capsules. Sometimes they upset my pouch just a little.
So, once I use up the Vista Vitamins, I'm going back to the Optisource chewables. My pouch just does better on chewables but both gave me a real boost in energy & stamina!
I add sublingual (melts under your tongue) B-12, Biotin for skin, nails & hair, & Super B Complex for nerve health, as well as chewable Twinlab Calcium Citrate ... but, DO NOT take your calcium at the same time you take vitamins & minerals ... they interfere with each other. In the winter, I take a chewable Vitamin C ... I'm also thinking about taking Vitamin E & Folate but haven't researched that enough yet.
God bless you ... Dawn & Nick
