It depends on your plans coverage.. I have bcbs of sc small group policy, and it has a written exlusion for EVERYONE no matter what the cir****tances or appeals.. check your policy book for the exclusion.. i believe if its large group plan that it might be covered depending on the policy.. not sure though. good luck! All BC/BS insurance is different, so it's hard to say if yours covers it or not. If you have an insurance booklet it will usually say in there if it is covered. I have BC/BS through the hospital that I work at, and it covers it. The doctor's office where you are going to go should be able to tell you, if you call them. Mary

Hi Marek I have BCBS of Maryland and I am having a real hard time with them so far. I had given them 8 yrs of medical records with diets and diets meds Ive been on over the years and now they come back telling me they want the last 2 years of more supervised diets and medications from like weigh****chers. I did go to weigh****chers for like 6 months last year but lost my booklet with all my info in it when we were in the process of moving, I went to the weigh****chers where I had attended and they said they do not keep anything unless you are a life time member. I was suprised that they throw out your information if you stop attending, so as far as helping me at all FORGET weigh****chers they were no help what so ever! I was really upset at them to say the least. My pcp is going to write a letter stating I went to weigh****chers in 2005 so Im PRAYING that BCBS accepts this letter other wise I was told I would be denied with out anything from weigh****chers. I wish you good luck with them and hope you have it alot easier then I did. Take Care Denise

Thanks for all your info. I discovered reading the benefits manual that BCBS of SC do not cover any wieght loss surgery. Are thier any alternatives of other routes to getting them to approve the surgery. All suggestions and help is welcome. Thanks Marek.
