I hated that durn thing...

I am so glad for you. That IS the worst part of this surgery I think. I wanted to pull mine out. I almost did, but mine was infected and I had a mass around mine and it rubbed on my rib cage when I moved. It was horrible. Just had to share that and say that IT COULD HAVE BEEN WORSE! Can you believe it? LOL

I'm sure glad you got that drain out. Mine was pulled the day I left the hospital at 5 days post op. There wasn't any fluid coming out anymore so they pulled it.
There is a nice scab on the spot and it's healing very nicely.
My DH was standing there watching them pull it out. It didn't hurt, but he kept saying, OMG I can't believe how long that tubing is. LOL

I am curious if you are talking about a gastric tube. my mom had surgery 9/20 and this tube is still in and has been more than a nightmare! at the hospital, they plugged it, and it poured acid all around the tube which caused 2nd degree burns on her belly. you cannot imagine! the nurses just didn't listen when we tried to ask about this. she came home for 4 days and I couldn't stand it anymore and took her back which then got someone's attention. they readmitted her, bagged it and the problem of course resolved itself slowly. Now the tube is finally plugged but she has 2 more weeks with it the drs say. Is this the same tube you guys are talking about? wonder if anyone else has had this trouble! I am really looking forward to learning more from you guys and am encouraging my mom to get on this forum. she lives alone and gets lonely.
