Oh NO!!! I found some bumps in my road - Nausea, Depression, and Weakness... Nausea - I have been feeling like I am gonna any moment but I'm not sure if it is nausea or hunger. You know, sometimes those feel the same... Depression - about everything. I'm depressed that I can't eat is the main thing. I want to eat everything I can't have Weakness - well this is a no brainer - I haven't eatern protein in a week. My body needs it badly. When will I get my strength back? I went to the store for 30 minutes and I was pooped!!! How will I ever go back to work next week? I am pretty low right now about things and I am sick and tired of Jello!!!! I know only 2 more days until full liquids but will it ever get here!!!????? Thanks for listening. Rachel

I am so sorry you are going through that. I never had the nausea or the depression but I did have the weakness. I would go to Wal-mart and after about 30 minutes, I would have to lie down for about 1.5 hours. Trust when I say it will get better. Hang in there with the liquids. You are almost there. Julie

Sorry youre having a hard time rachel It will get better very soon!!! The nausea issue, some people get it after surgery, some don't.. I didn't so i can't relate there, but I do know that it is most definately not "hunger" .. You won't feel hunger for a while.. or shouldn't at least... The depression is the mourning of food.. I had this VERY bad, so I can relate here.. Ive talked to u some about it already, and I know u can make it through.. in 2 mths youll be saying how silly it was to be mourning your food.. thats how i feel now.. but at the time, I was BAWLING my eyes out for food.. so i know its one of the hardest things ive went through (besides childbirth of course lol) but once you get over that hump, it will be smooth sailing from there, and you wont "want" those things, and when u do, you can take a bite, and that will be about all u want.. now some days I wish i had the " Eat for free day card" LOL but then i look at my progress and how i feel and its just not worth it anymore! Food will not be your ruler much longer trust me!!! It was mine for a longggg time.. and now i find myself forgetting to eat.. and I know, thats a NO NO.. but before, I was planning my meals a day in advanced lol. I know u will make it through and you are going to be even more beautiful than you are now!! And so happy and healthy it will all be worth it!!! That first week i was like "i dont know if i did the right thing" now i say "i would do it 100 times over" .. so it WILL get better!!! And the weakness thing, just make sure you get the water and protein in.. it will get easier once you get on full liquids and can have some good chocolate protein shakes or something to that effect.. i recommend the Pure Protein banana creme shake, it has 35 grams of protein, and is really good. Love ya! Jen .. call if u need to talk!!!

See, that is the problem...I cannot get my protein in. I have tried, tried, and tried some more and spent $$$$. It comes back up and it is awful painful. I'll have to hope for the best with the full liquids. I gotta get some protein back into my diet. Rachel

Rachel, First of all, you're in my prayers. Remember, you've had major surgery, and your body is in shock still. The weakness can be from the lack of protein, but it's also from the massive change to your body. Take care of yourself, and listen to your body! Be easy on yourself. It's easy to forget, with only tiny scars from lap surgery, that the changes inside are much greater than what you see on the outside! Can you ask your doctor for something for the nausea? You may be able to take a prescription or non-prescription drug to help. Hang in there! Lisa

Hey Rachel!! I can relate to the weakness and hating the protein. I was having the same problem. In fact I called Chris on that Monday after my first weekend home. I told him and he did suggest some proteins for me. He was also pretty good at getting me motivated to try some different proteins. I don't know if it was that fact that I didn't want to let anyone down or what, but I remember getting up that day and trying all different things to get my protein in. I may not have finished everything, but I got more protein in than I had over the weekend. YOur body is going to be weak after surgery anyway, but you have to try anything to get in the protein. Once you up your protein you will feel much better!!!! Hang in ther kiddo it will get better!!!!!! Melissa

Hey Rachel, I know how you feel... like the others on here. Hang in there... I promise it does get better. Once you hit all the food phases it is like you are normal again. Hang in and take one day at a time. Just try to do what you can. I was also really tired and weak after surgery... that too gets better. You have been through a lot... give yourself a break and a lot of TLC! If you need me holler!!! Pam

Rachel, Poor Baby, I am soooo sorry Don't know if this will help, but it will explain things a little better. As you lose weight, your fat cells will release estrogen....men too....haha, but that will cause mood swings and major depression. The doctor told us this in our pre-op class. Knowing that, sort of made it easier to bare, but knowing you were in a depression was hard to recognize for me. Tell your PCP and ask for some Wellbutrin. It worked for my depression due to losing fat!!! Which by the way, if you are depressed, you are losing!!! YEAH!! Then, it also dealt with the headhunger issue, so 2 birds, one pill!! I only take them every now and then and the first month I was post op, I took one pill crushed up 2x a day, because I couldn't swallow the XR pill, and it tastes NASTY!!! Mix with applesauce. I only took it for about 4 weeks, and then around Christmas and a couple other times, just PRN (as needed) Hope this helps you....don't feel bad about taking it, it will help and keeps your moodswings level...also, Drink Propel, it will help balance your electrolytes! I can't wait to see your post op pics!!! Bet you have already lost at least 10-15 pounds! Take care of yourself and I love you and have been thinking about you lots!!!! (((HUGS))) all the way from California!! Deb

Rachel, I am so sorry you are feeling bad. I had my surgery 3 days after you did. I had the worst of the problems while I was still in the hospital and could generally only get half of the carnation instant breakfast or yogurt down. Hardly anything of the broth and not much of the tea. I feel so much better since I've gotten home on Monday evening. I'm trying small sips of an Atkins shake right now. The jury is still out whether the pouch will be grouchy or not. I do find that my pouch likes room temp or warm liquids a whole lot better than cold liquids. That's a 100% turn around for me. I'm not stressing about going back to work. I'm not scheduled to go bac****il 11/6 and it is likely that I'll make that date. But the gall bladder complications could rear their ugly little heads and delay that return to work. I found out the pre op prep day that Jello is NOT food. Other than not wanting jello, I haven't been mourning any foods yet. Knock on wood really fast. That may come later, who knows. Take care Tink

Tink, Been wondering where you were!!! I am sooo sorry you seem to be having a hard time with your gallbladder!! I am glad you are home and doing well. I could not do cold liquids either, unless it was frozen propel....my Godsend!! Try some liquidy grits with some protein powder added, hopefully that will help your tummy. I found in the very beginning, things like carbs with some protein helped a lot. Take care of yourself, and keep posting and letting us know how you are progressing! Glad to hear you are okay!! Love ya, Deb
