Clear protein
YUCK!
If any of your ladies have any extra clear protein, I need it. If you are coming out to the hospital to see me please bring it. I bought some of the isopures last week and they have a horrible after taste.
I think I might be one of these people that just has to take that nasty Prostat stuff and hold my nose. At least it is 20 g of protein in one ounce!!
Thanks
Rachel

Sorry Rachel, it ALL tastes like crap. That aftertaste IS the protien.
The first week is the hardest because the only protien supplements Dr. Bour allows us are the ones that are the most disgusting on the market. In my opinion..
But don't worry. I'm sure we all have plenty to give to you. At least you won't have to waste YOUR money on them.
BUT, you just may be one of those that doesn't have a problem with those protiens after surgery. Both of the ladies that had surgery the same week as me did great with the Isopure drinks and the Unjury unflavored. I was the only one that hated them. You just do your best either way.
Only one more day!!!
Kathy

I am drinking the isopure through a straw right now (although I know this isn't allowed after surgery).
I find that chasing it with a SF mint helps with the after taste!! Oh well, guess we will have to see. It is only a week on this clear stuff...I can make it. By the way, Chris asked Dr. Bour about drinking Isopure the day before surgery and he said it was fine. I double checked and it was ok with both of them. I'm trying to drink it to keep me from getting really tired and weak!!

I'm glad you are getting your protien in now then. You will have an easier recovery time.
Michelle the Nutrition Nazi told me NO! when I asked her and Dr. Bour just agreed with her. I guess he really didn't know what I was asking. Grrr...
I wonder what she is gonna be like when she gets back and she's all tired and grouchy from having a newborn in her house. Hoowee, I feel sorry for those pre-ops and new post ops!!

All I can say is for me, everything tasted HORRIBLE after surgery.. If I were you, I would do the protein jello they sell.. at NS.. I don't have any, and never tried any but I hear it was tolerable. and also, you wont start any protein until AFTER you get home. so I would definately have some available to you or someone that can go and get some samples of others for you to try... good luck girl!!! i cant wait to see you on the other side!!!! (((((((((HUGS)))))))))

I'm still pre op but I found 2 that I like. Not clear protein.
6 Stars - Walmart - Vanilla 14.99
Designer Whey - Praline Vanilla - GNC 24.99 I got mine on sale for 19.99
Those are the two I like the best in powders.
For pre mixed. Atkins Advantage - Chocolate - I add a scoop of Praline Vanilla to it to cut the chocolate taste and get a great drink and 35 grams of protein.
Good luck. My surgery is Thursday.
You will do fine. You do what you have to do.

Hey Rachel...
Since I probably won't see you tonight at meeting just wanted you to know
that I will be praying for you . It will be over before you know it and you'll be doing well.
I used the unflavored Unjury for the first week home and then I had to get something else. I can't drink it today but it came in handy then. I have been using the ProStat...I have the cherry flavor. UGH! I just hold my breath and gulp it down.
Take care and I hope to see you Wed.... =0)

The Protica Profect is just 2.7 ounces & is clear ... It is very sweet & like syrup in texture. Their website is at the bottom of my profile page.
Ms Becky told me that The Vitamin Shoppe has a similar product that is not as sweet & is not as thick & syrupy ... You might give that a try.
God bless ... Dawn & Nick
