Need to vent about hubby!!

Before I start venting about my husband, let me say that he has been very supportive of my adventure to have this surgery. Not to mention all of the money that he has seen fly out the window for diets that failed over and over... All of that being said... He just made the most boneheaded remark. He went to get the ice cream out of the freezer and I had finished it off this afternoon. In my defense...there wasn't much left from his rampage last night. However, he was pissed off because it was gone and said "You better enjoy it now....in a couple of months after surgery...you will be puking your guts out. If you keep eating like this, you will need 2 surgeries!!!" Needless to say this caused quite the diagreement I know he means well but he says things sometime just to hurt my feelings. I know that I shouldn't have eaten it but I did. As you can see I still get defensive about my eating habits. I am so ready to get this surgery and begin my struggle to make food no longer my best friend and my hobby!! Thanks for listening...just needed to vent. Rachel

oh honey, let me tell you. i am not going to bash your hubby. they say the dumbest things sometimes. mine has never said anything like that but i will find him very innocently making comments about things i do like "aren't you supposed to exercise more?" or "can you eat that at this stage?" even though it is the most innocent statement and he is really truly concerned, it plain ****** me off. anyone who has fought with eating habits as long as we have is going to get defensive. i don't blame your anger and i am here to listen when ever you need me.

Yup, men are the same everywhere. For years, no matter what I ate, it was.... should you be eating that? or I THOUGHT you were trying to lose weight. Like we need the food police on our hind ends every moment of every day. He's the sweetest thing and thinks he's helping me. Hang in there. He was just probably upset cause he thought HE was the only one entitled to that ice cream!!

Hi Rachel Oh my dear. I think hubbies are the same everywhere too. Would you believe that when I first looked into RNY he referred to the surgery as "the gutting"!!! Pretty mean huh?? But now that he has seen the progress I have made(his NEW wife he calls me) he has turned into a supportive mother hen. Did you get all your protien today, did you take your vitamins, did you take your other med, don't hurt yourself when you excercise. Sigh..... But I still love him. Oh by the way you won't be able to eat ice cream like that ever again. One little trick I do is tell myself. They will still make more ice cream so you don't have to eat that much. Just a half cup and you will be fine. You will be happy and you will be satisfied. Keep up the positive thoughts my dear. You will be on the losing side soon. Nancy from California
