Hi everyone, I know I dont post that much but I need some advice or maybe just some suggestions.Ok next month will be a year for me I havent had time to get to Dr.Burns due starting a new job last year.So I started to see my own family doctor .Im scheduled to go in and get some blood work done.I think im fine but at times I have no energy.I lost 112 pds.But here recently if feels like im snacking way too much.Maybe im acting crazy who know. But in the morning I eat a small bowl of cereal which is kellogs carb smart with protein which I think is good but I do admit the milk ive got to work on its the fat free milk has like 13 grams of sugar yes ive tried the hood milk and dont like it too much, then at break time I eat some popcorn a small bag or some crackers. Then I come home and have a small snack crackers,or just handfulls of cereal. Then I eat dinner which is sometimes weigh****chers meals. But I get scared sometimes cause Sunday I beleive I went to dinner which was chinese I ordered shrimp lo mein I know carbs but cant help it.Ate a small amount ,went shopping and came home about 9 which was like 3 hrs since I ate and was back into my chinese again.A couple of bites then ate a couple bites of some watermelon. And I also drink tea which says sugar free but really not its sweetened with splenda .Which I dont know if thats even good for me.I know dont know what to think of my self sometimes,I really dont want to mess this up.Ive heard if it doesnt work you end up gaining all your weight back plus more so I really dont want that to happen..Do you think I should talk to Dr.Burns and see if he can look into my stomach,I mean I know its still working cause I still eat small amounts, but sugar doesnt bother me too much ,I never dump only on ice cream.People at work have so many snacks around so I help my self sometimes.Ok ive rambled on enough so help me out and tell me what yall think.Thank you so much.....

Hi Maryann I think it never hurts to talk to your doctor especially if you think your aren't using your tool right. I know of several people that don't dump on sugar or fatty foods. Some people do and some don't it just depends on the individual person. I think you may want to replace some of your snacks with protein though. That may be why you are feeling tired...it doesn't sound like you are getting enough protein. If your doctor has a nutritionist, I recommend you making an appointment with them. I hope this helps!!! Hello Maryann! Listen I went through the same exact thing. I too began snacking and found that alot of things didn't bother me. Even cake and candy bar miniatures. I started devouring them. They were really good and I kept saying to myself that they weren't bothering me so I could eat them. Then I began to notice they WERE indeed bothering me. My weight began to increase. I gained 5 pounds. Then I noticed I started craving more of the "NO NO" foods and wanted them before I wanted my "GOOD" foods. I had to stop myself. I know this may sound silly, but I got a pair of my "FAT" jeans that I had at my biggest and put them on. I looked in the mirror and remembered what it was to be that way. Before I had my surgery I vowed to myself NEVER to be that way again. I got out old photographs, old journals, and talked with some of my friends. I needed a wake up call. I got one. I passed out one day and had to be rushed to the hospital. While there they said I was deficiant with my protein and my iron level was too low. I have since stopped all the nonsens of all the "NO NO" foods. I have had to reteach myself to eat the way I was "trained" to eat. Now when I want to snack, if I can't get a healthy one, I drink water. This fills the pouch and curbs the hungry feeling. Although yes I still "want" the "NO NO" foods I have to remind myself of life before WLS. It was no fun. I hope this helps you hun. Good luck and feel free to contact me if you need more advice. **HUGS** Jeanie Hayes WLS: 10/12/04 Loss to date: 179 lbs *Check out my Profile*

First off, your doctor's name is DR BYRNE 792-3751 There are 3 nutritions at the MUSC clinic 792-8933 Laura Nance [email protected] Tonya Shipman [email protected] (can't remember the 3rd ones name) NUTRITION and SUPPORT CLASSES Nutrition Class first Thursday of every month 2:00 pm - 4:00 pm Support Group Class third Thursday of every month 6:00 pm - 7:00 pm Both of these meetings are held at: Weight Management Center MUSC Institute of Psychiatry 67 President Street South Tower, Suite 410 Charleston, SC No excuses, you are a year out and should be setting an example. Time to make an appointment with your surgeon and a nutritionist, retake the basic nutrition class and attend the support group meetings. Back to basics: http://www.gastricbypassfamily.com/PouchRules.html The surgeon creates the tool, you have to work it, and you have to own up to your poor choices. This is a lifestyle change for life, if you drop your guard, the weight comes back. User error, not stomach malfunction. Grab ahold of it now, you can do it. Sorry if this comes across as rude, take it with a grain of salt, but take it seriously. A food journal would help. You may be getting too much carbs, or too much sugar, not enough protein, not enough calories, or too much calories....we have no clue, but journaling for a few days and then taking it to the nutritionists will help. Even if you don't know all the fat/carb/calorie grams, they will fill them in for you and show you how to do it for yourself and suggest a better eatting plan. SF and Splenda are good....if its decaf tea its good...if its caffeinated it affects the absorptions of your vitamins. A cup of ff milk wont kill you, the sugar is from lactose, no the same as corn syrup etc. And not everyone dumps, it doesnt mean you are broken, it just means you arent one of the ones with that additional help/deterant. My tummy is cast iron, I do not dump on anything. Good Luck M

Hi Maryann, I hear the fear and frustration in your post. The one above this one pretty much says it all.... You still have your tool and you MUST work with it. Look how far you have already come. What a miricle!!! You must go back to the basics. Get rid of all those useless and harmful carbohydrates. Popcorn....empty calories you don't need. Crackers, and even cereal. Try some string cheese or a little roast beef roll up, even beef jerky. You have started making some bad choices so get back on track girl. You can do it!!! 1. Protien first 2. Excercise every day 3. Water at least 64 oz per day 4. NO JUNK 5. Attend your support meetings 6. Visit the nutritionist. That's what thier job is for. Advise 7. Don't weigh everyday. You KNOW all these rules. They are in place for a reason. So go, Go, GO!! The weight will come off again. Nancy from California
