Feeling a little better
Goood morning Everyone
I haven't posted since my last surgery on June 23 (my 27th wedding anniversary) So I thought I would give an update.
Dr. Ross is such a wonderful man, I love the way he holds your hand and is praying in your ear as you drift off to sleepy land. He told my husband this time there was more scar tissue than the month before, it had squeezed my esophagus tube shut at the bottom which is why I could barely get down any liquids! He cut all that away and then pumped up a balloon in my esophagus to open it back up.
I felt fine from the surgery, but then looked over and seen that dreaded IV bag and knew I was going to gain pounds. The last surgery on May 19th they gave me 3 bags of fluid, I gain 9 pounds off those 3 bags! Did it again this time! Arrgghhh! So in 2 months they have given 18 pounds of fluid!!!
But the good news is I lost the first 9 pounds at a pound a day, and it seems I'm doing the same this time to.
I was soooo weak y'all! Dr. Ross said because I couldn't get in my protein and liquids let alone my vitamins, my body went into starvation mode and instead of burning fat, I was loosing muscle!!
I'm still week, and can't stand for long I also get light headed easy, I had blood work done by my family doctor the week before surgery and found out my potassium level was real low.
But on the bright side, Even though I'm still weak, I feel a LOT better and me & hubby went by the YMCA yesterday to see what all they offer, We liked what we seen and we're joining as a family tomorrow evening! Got to build these weak muscles!
By the way, Did I tell y'all my husband quiet smoking? So much has been going on I can't remember if I told y'all? It will be one month this Saturday!! I'm sooooo proud of him!
And speaking of Saturday's ~
I'll be glad when my daughter gets home from Kentucky missions Sat. I miss her!
Please pray this group home for me.
My weight ~ I'm counting my weight from my surgery date. On the day of surgery I weighed 315, I now weight 250 So I'm 9 1/2 weeks out and have lost 65 pounds. Would probably have been more if I wasn't GIVEN * POUNDS OF FLUID!! LOL!
BUT.... I know some of y'all count weight loss from before surgery to. I started dieting in Jan. so I wouldn't have the fatty liver. I weighed 336 on Jan. 1st. which would make my total weight loss 86 pounds from that point.
OK, I have over done it sitting here typing,
I'm going to rest for a little bit now and try and catch up on reading what everyone's been posting later.
I love all of you and pray that all of you are doing great.
Have a blessed day.
Love,
Debra

Hey Debra,
You've been on quite an adventure. I'm glad that you're on the mend. I'll be keeping you and your family in my prayers.
CONGRATULATIONS 86 lbs is an awesome achievement

even more important is to get you back feeling strong and healthy. So hang in there, and remember, PROTEIN, PROTEIN, PROTEIN!!! BTW, did I mention PROTEIN
I pray you're feeling stronger real soon!!!!

Hey sweetie!
Don't worry about the extra fluid. Your body needed it. And having lost 65 pounds in 9-1/2 weeks is a LOT......and probably is due to not being able to eat. Take it easy and just try slowly to start adding new foods. You have certainly been in my prayers, and I hope that you won't have to go through this again!! Keep me posted on how you are doing!!
Hugs,
Dianne
