I just found out Thursday (6/22/06) that my insurance company has approved my surgery. My date is set for August 4th and the reason it is not sooner is because I am going on vacation to Disney World July 14th thru July 22nd. I can't believe that surgery is now only a little over 4 weeks away. I am really getting nervous, scared and excited all at the same time. I can't wait!!!

I will be posting the list Friday when I call for a "Time To Update Roll Call"...keep an eye out for it Welcome, Tonya

Hello Tonya, That will be great, I do not have any problems with you adding me to that list. Thank you so much for your reply and support and YES, I am doing the "Happy Dance". Coming here and posting is a way to share my excitement with someone because no one around me seems to be as excited about this surgery as I am. My family is more worried than anything, but like I told my husband, God will take me when he is ready. My situation is a little more touchy than normal because a friend of mine just had the surgery at the end of April and she passed away June 12th. She had siezures before the surgery and the doctors don't believe that her death is from the surgery. She was found passed out in the bath tub, not sure if she was under water or not and not sure if she hit her head but the doctors said that she had swelling to her brain stem and she eventually went completely brain dead and they took her off of the ventilator on the 12th of this month. They did an autopsy but said it could be months before they have an answer. The doctors seem to think she may have had one of two underlying diseases that could have caused what happened and that maybe the gastric bypass surgery stirred the disease up, but not knowing for sure is what is so upsetting. Hopefully I will do fine and get through this, I just wish I had more support from my family. Thank you for letting me vent. Thank you for your support. Michelle Tarlton
