Just wanted to update you all on my visit today. I saw Dr. Sholtz and he is great. He said that the Valgus Nerve goes through the entire upper body area and he is suspecting that this nerve could have been damaged during my Gastric Bypass. This nerve controls a lot, ie: passing out and feeling dizzy. He is sending me for an EEG on Thursday just to be safe. He said that if the nerve is damaged that it should heal itself by September. If I still feel like this then we will go from there. But for now, we don't know much. I have called and left a message for Dr. Morgan, hopefully she will call tomorrow. Thanks, Britt

Hate to be the devil's advocate, but I had a nerve block at the base of my skull a few years back for pain and became very dizzy and sick immediately after. The neuro said it was a reaction from the vagus nerve, so I know what you're talking about, and that makes sense. But, if it was damaged by the gastric surgery, why is it just showing up now? I am having trouble with dizziness and passing out also. My endocrinologist has been checking my adrenaland pituitary glands because I've also developed constant low blood pressure with crashing upon standing. What's going on with us??? Love, B

Well this is the strangest thing... I too have been having the "dizzy spells"- falling etc... However my primary believes that I have excess fluid in my ear that presses against the nerve that controls equalibrium... I have been having this problem since early March. I have been on medication, however I just had a visit last week because I am still dizzy, "falling" and not "quite right".... My primary has asked me to take a hearing test on next week in order to rule out Meniere's disease which is a "disease" that is comprised of excess fluid in the ear, that causes the problems I have already described.... I think that this in interesting that a number of Gastric patients are having issues with dizziness... please keep me posted Take Care-Towana

Hope you feel better soon, It's very scary when things occur out of the blue...hopefully your EEG will show for sure that it's the vagus nerve. Lesley
