Last Suppers...
Ok everyone....I am sure you know what I am talking about. You know, you anticipate the life change and you enjoy the HECKOLA out of life before....OK now the PROBLEM!!! I am worried that by continuing to enjoy food I am only going to make my change that much harder!! I am a long way from surgery (possible september or october) and I don't want to gain another 20 lbs by then!! HELP!! What did all of you do....be honest!!!

I ate and gained..I got my paperwork sent into the insurance company in October and got my surgery the end of December..I went from 231 to 248 in that time..Nothing was said by the surgeon... I enjoyed the heck out of Thanksgiving AND Christmas Dinner...And all the yummy treats I can not handle now..Awww, what memories. LOL
NOW, I watch people eat like I use to and it makes me sick.
nah, I did it, and I gained some weight. WHO CARES!! Have fun cause you won't eat like that ever again, and while now it may seem like a torture, in 3 months you could care less. So what if you got 20 more pounds on??? You got a lifetime to lose it
If I had not done 400 last suppers, I would have been at goal by now!!
I am on my last 9 or 19 depending how much I lose.
Its okay, and by the time surgery came, I was like, "good, I am stuffed, and sick of eating all the time". I think we all do it!
Have a good time, and eat your ice cream now, cause you won't later!

i don't. in fact, eating is something i struggle with in the opposite way. this surgery does wonders for helping you change habits. i am grateful to not be focused on food but since i have always been an emotional eater, i am having to deal with stress in a different way. that is the hard part. if we could change these habits we wouldn't need surgery so don't worry. take this time to "do what you want" but don't over do it. your surgery and recovery will go much more smoothly having lost some weight. also you want to make sure that your protein intake is high before surgery. it is the only thing that will keep you from getting so weak you can't stand yourself. best wishes and don't stress too much.
I had a solid week of last suppers. Every ethnic food that I loved The night before my surgery I stopped because I didn't want Dr. Byrne to see all of that junk in my stomach.
I loved eating like that before surgery, but now I can't imagine it. Food is so different now. I don't eat to comfort myself anymore. Large quantities of food are not imaginable any more. I find that now I eat to nourish myself. You won't believe how delicious a bite of fresh vegetables taste. I am 8 1/2 months out and have lost 106 pounds
So I say enjoy your last meals and get ready for a great ride.

Well, the surgeon wanted me to try and lose 25 to 30 lbs so I could try to have the procedure lap instead of open. I lost 20 by doing Atkins for the last month and a half. Now I have seen the surgeon and he is happy...only a few days left til surgery! I have thought about the last supper...but I'm not sure that I want to now. I think I will just keep trying to lose until my surgery date, so I have less to lose later!
I'm bound and determined to stop sabotaging myself!! But of course, that is just me.
It sounds like the other wonderful ladies here are doing just fine after having their last hoorah, so if you feel so led, then go for it!

Hey Rachel
I think at the time that I was several months away from surgery, I was so over food and what it was doing to me. While I did enjoy the taste of it, after eating I was so disgusted with myself. I guess that is when I knew that it was time for a change and that I would succeed with wls. But did I have a last supper??? Many of them (the last one was at Kanpai). And I don't regret a thing. It kind of gave me closure of a lifetime of bad eating habits.....and opening a door to a new lifestyle and a new me!!
Hugs,
Dianne
