First of all.... RELAX. How much weight have you lost already? We all lose at different rates and stalls and plateaus are common, even this soon out. Your body might just be playing catch up. You had a major surgery and a major life adjustment, your body needs to catch its breath (so to speak) How often do you weigh yourself? Try not to get on the scales but once a week at the same time and it is better to weigh in the morning after going to the potty. Also go back to the basics, water, protein, and measuring. Keep a record of what you eat. I am not able to do that, I hate it. But I hear it helps. I hope this helps Julie

You are perfectly normal!! You gain fluid when you are in the hospital and it can take up to 6 weeks to lose the fluids, and your body will try to hold on to fluid to protect itself, esp. if you had open. If you had lap, same thing, just not as much fluid as open. I find after 9 months that your body will stop to allow itself time to catch up and I will bet $$$ you are losing inches now. I always liked it when I slowed down in lbs, cause the inches were going. Its an every-other thing. Pounds, then Inches, so take it easy, you are not "the only person out there who the surgery will not work for". You are NORMAL!! Deb PS, I would stop a while, and then I would drop like a rock, like I am now, for a week or so, then it will slow down again...if you lost constantly for the whole time, you would be in the hospital!!

i am in the same boat and it is depressing. i am back on full liquids because of some issues and i STILL can't move the scale. i appreciate the feedback and it helps but in the back of my mind i'm thinking. yep, typical for me, this ain't gonna work either. then i get on the board and i feel a little better. it is nice to know everyone goes through this and still has success.

Thanks to everyone for their replies! I am glad to know I am not alone. I have lost 39lbs. so far, which I think is GREAT, but this plateau is killing me. I had to have another surgery 3 weeks after my bypass, due to complications from the bypass surgery, and I was just hoping that I was not starting to expreience more complications. Thanks again everyone! Danielle

Danielle, I've been wondering how you've been doing. I even sent you an email about 2 weeks ago, asking if all was well. I'm glad to see you're back posting 39 lbs?!! That's awesome!!! Congratulations!!! I'm sure you realized by now that we all have had to deal with slow weight loss from time to time...the dreaded stall! My weight loss has been slower than I wanted at times too. Hang in there, 39 lbs is just the beginning. Here's to an even lighter future!!! BTW, I've updated your info on the weight loss list. Again, CONGATULATIONS!!! Tonya
