Dr. Donald Balder in Conway, South Carolina???????

Hello, Has any of the members on this website had Dr. Donald Balder do their surgery? I initially planned to go to Mexico for my surgery. I recently found out Dr. Balder does the lapband surgery (although it seems he does more RNY) and is reasonable in cost compared to most local based doctors. I prefer to have my surgery in the states if possible. And, the after-care will be easier with him being within an hour or so of my home. I will have to met with him to see if he will do my surgery since I am a lower BMI patient. BMI of 34.5. I am trying to locate people who has used his services to see what their experience was and what they think of him as a surgeon. Your help will be most appreciated. Thanks, Carol Slate

I attend his introduction meeting and 2 of thier support group meetings. The people at the support groups simply loved his practice. I heard all good comments about how they were supportive and helpful through the whole process. I did not have surgery with them as I opted for the Duodenal Switch which they dont do. They have a support group on Yahoo. I just dont remember the name but if you talk to SUE or someone at thier office I am sure they can give you the support group address/name on Yahoo.

Dr. Byrne and Dr. Baker at MUSC do the lap band. He is ranked in the top 3 in the USA for bariatric surgery, and would never hesitate recommending him. It was the best experience I have ever had!! At least call and/or email MUSC and get the info, and consider him, he's worth the drive....I know patients that come from around the world to him. Good Luck, stay in touch, Deb
