Sherry, You are probably right. When your body is deprived of something it will let you know.. When I was on the pureed stage I ate Hormel's Turkey chili without beans. It is 98% ff and really good!!! I pureed it before I ate it. I also ate tuna it has tons of protein in it. I also ate egg salad. Have you tried isopure chocolate protein powder? I like it and have used it since full liquids. I haven't really found any other protein supplement that I like. I hope this helps and you can ask tomorrow night. There are other women that are not Dr. Bour's pts and it is nice to hear some other advice that we are no familar with. Melissa

Hi Kathy Sorry to hear about the nasty urges for fries. I went for my solid 2 meeting today and saw pasta on the list and haven't been able to get that out of my head. I think the head games are the hardest part of the whole process!! We just have to be strong and remember why we did this in the first place.....to wear bikinis....I mean to be healthy!!!!!! I am glad that we are meeting this week. I think we need it!!!!!! Melissa

I think we need it too! I think me eating pasta is actually what started the carb cravings to begin with. I guess I need to learn to stay away! I will cut it out of my diet and see what happens. Oh well, noone said we wouldn't make sacrifices! Kathy

Girlfriend it must be something in the air!!! I just updated my profile and wrote about how I'm going through the same thing. Head hunger arrrrrrrrrgh!!! It's enough to make me scream!!! I've even been craving the dreaded death sticks ...Yup, the craving for those nasty cigs has resurfaced too. I'm resisting like my life depends on it...cause it does! I'm hanging on with white knuckles, waiting for our group meeting on Thurs. And for me to have white knuckles means I'm hanging on tight So hang on with me Kathy...I'm gonna take Melony's advice and just start sprinkling cinnamon on everything Tonya

We can do it!! I'll promise not to touch a french fry or any dreaded sugar if you promise not to touch a cigarette! Deal? Kathy (with white knuckles gripping a shaker full of cinnamon...)

Come on Kathy, you can hang in there!! Just remember how far you have come and fight those demons!! I mean if I can go to Krispy Kreme everyday and not "sneak" a bite, you can stay away from the junk food. I have been working 3rd shift and had to learn to make cake doughnuts. Let me tell you that the smell of the cake batter, and the smell of the glaze going on them takes me down memory lane!! But I have to replace that thought with what the scale tells me when I wake up every morning (or night!!). But when I am at home and it hits.....I just have to DO something. Take a walk, but on an exercise video or something that will keep my mind off of it. You've done so well, you can make it!! See you Thursday!! Hugs, Dianne

GREAT DIANNE!!! Now I want CAKE DONUTS!!! THANKS ALOT!! Just kidding. I am fighting them the best I can and they haven't won. I guess I need to stay away from my trigger foods and I am starting to figure out what they are. You truly are my idol. I don't know if I could be around donuts. They 'd have to haul me out in a stretcher every night! Kathy

Sorry you are dealing with the queasies. The only time I have that problem is when I eat too fast or don't chew properly (or in the beginning when I got a whiff of that protien .) No fun!! It gets better, I promise! Kathy

Kathy, come and sit by me!! I had the urges and/or cravings...head hunger when I was first home, and periodically, I think its something that just happens. Go ahead and eat a few french fries, feel sick, and that will cure it. I had a few with some steak the other night, with ketchup....bleh! I felt sick!!! Had to leave the table to lay down. It always freaks my dad when I do, but we are all used to it, and they were visiting and I am 9 months post. One of the things I do, and my primary care doc agrees with, is in the beginning when my head hunger was terrible, he gave me a script for wellbutrin. I had to take the tablet that I could crush in the beginning and now I take the XL as needed prn. I have just lately felt a few cravings coming on, so I go on and off as needed, he said it was fine. I have found about every few months I want to eat again, but I don't give in...but I do not deprive myself either. If I want key lime pie, I make it, but SF and I use lots of spray whipped cream, and jello, and puddings, and I am satisfied. My hubby bought a slice of the real thing once, and I had a sliver so thin you could read the paper through it....it melted in my mouth, but that was it, I had a taste, just the lick of a tip of a spoon is enough for me, so go ahead, eat one french frie at Mc Donald's or somewhere, and throw the rest away, and you will feel like you had the taste, and then the greasy taste will be in your mouth, and you will not want anymore, I promise. If you just taste, literally, I can touch the bottom of my fork to a piece of pie, or something, and lick it, or touch it to my tongue, so I am not really eating it, but tasting it, that satisfies me totally. Try that, but remember to control it. Good Luck, and don't worry so much, and give yourself a break! The surgery works, and you are changing habits, not lives. Deb
