Fighting my weaknesses!!!

Ok guys. Its happening. The "old" behaviors are coming back to haunt me. I have been really craving bad foods lately. I am not hungry, I just want to taste them!! I wanted french fries with salt really bad yesterday after work. I wasn't hungry, I just could not get them out of my mind!! I have been having the same issues with cake and soda. What is funny is, before surgery I hated french fries and hardly ever had cake and soda! Thankfully, I did not give in. I am still afraid of getting sick. Is there anything you guys do to stop the cravings? This is what used to happen to me on diets before RIGHT before a binge. Don't get me wrong, it is much easier to fight these urges now than before, I just wish they would go AWAY!! Kathy

Hey Kathy, Chef Ed mentioned last night to chew Fire Cinnamon Trident gum. He said spices and cinnamon especially curb appetite and you won't want to eat. I hope that helps. Hugs, Melony

I can't chew gum. I subconsciously will swallow it, and I can't take that chance!! Just call me weird!! Hugs, Dianne

Hi Melony! I've been chewing gum like crazy! But not cinnamon. I'll have to try that, but I'm not hungry so there is no appetite to curb. I just need them to make french fry flavored sugar free gum. Kathy

Well, since my second week out, Michelle said I could chew gum as long as I didn't swallow it. I was having a real bad problem with Ketosis nad my breath was horrible and I couldn't get that bad taste out of my mouth. So I've been chewing gum off an on since then - but mostly to make me feel beter about my breath when I am not near mouthwash or a toothbrush. I've heard of people arguing over gum on this site, but not in the same practice!! Kathy P.S. Welcome to the board!!

tonya, kathy, and melissa, thanks so much for the big welcome. i WILL be at the meeting. i feel like i need it. i see melony at our nutrition appointments but really no one else. i can't tell you how much i look forward to talking to her at those meetings. this is certainly not somethng you can do alone. so a big thank you to melony too for being there!! now another issue. i posted something on the national forum about craving steak but i don't think they understood what i meant. i am not experiencing "head hunger". i am NOT hungry. my body is telling me i am missing something. i don't want anything bad yet. i think my craving for steak is because it is so loaded with protein. i started the pureed stuff yesterday and that went ok. i found that the campbell's select butternut squash soup is FANTASTIC! i feel better today having had real protein and some veggies. i am in no way hungry but i just can't live on those suppliments. i did fine the first week but now i look at them and want to cry. i can get down 2 of the pineapple orange drinks but that is only 30 g protein. i just need the nudge from somebody. tell me it will be ok. PLEASE!!
