Hey Ladies!!! Just got back from my 1 month visit with Dr. Byrnes. It went great! BUT their scale weighs me 3 lbs. more than mine. I did not weigh, this morning at home, I weighed yesterday. I started my monthly cycle....so maybe it is water weight. So a total from my scale=35 lbs, but from their scale=31. I'll take it!!!! He also told me that he expects me to lose anywhere from 50-60 lbs by August 3rd???? WOW!!!! I hope I can do that. August 3rd is my next visit to see him. Does that sound doable I would appreciate any in put. Thanks, Chell

Very doable. I am approaching my 3 mth appointment, in 1 weeks, and I am 51 lbs down. I am hoping for 55-60 lbs by that time. Just keep working the tool and you will do it. Congrats on the weight loss. Hugs Julie

I am confused. He told me 50-60 more lbs. by my 3 months appointment. I have already lost 35, by my scale. If I lose 50-60 lbs. by my 3 months appointment that would be like 80 lbs. total. Not sure if I can do that? Can that be done? Thanks, Chell

Depending on where you started. from what I can gather, the heavier you are the faster you lose it in the beginning. The lightweights seem to lose slower. I read your post to say that you would have lost 50-60 lbs by your 3 mth appointment, sorry. But I would say if you work hard and excerise that you may reach it, but do not beat yourself up if you dont. We all lose weight at different rates. I feel like as long as I am losing that I am doing great. Hugs Julie

You know what????? Maybe it is me that took it wrong. Maybe he meant 50-60 total. I am already beating myself up about it. I mean I have dieted all my life. To me 50-60 lbs are really BIG numbers, like almost unachievable(spelling) in that short of time. I am glad that I was given the tool to have and to use, but it almost seems like not real to lose that much weight. I mean, I know I will and can lose that much weight, but sometimes it just doesn't seem real, ya know. I am with you, as lomg as I am on the losing side, it is all good. I don't consider myself one of the heavyweights, though. But really not a light weight either. I need to lose, from the beginning like 120-130 lbs. Now I need to lose like 100 lbs. That's cool, with me. Thanks for e-mailing me and chatting. I always like to hear from other people and how they are coping with life, after surgery. Chell

Any time on the emailing and chatting, that is what we are here for, to help each other. You and I are about in the same place. I want to lose about 135 lbs. I would consider me a middle weight. And I know how you feel about that it just does not seem real. Friday I bought a pair of 14W jean shorts, 10 weeks ago I was wearing a 20W/22W. I bought 1x shirts the other week, 10 weeks ago I was wearing 3X or bigger (I like my shirts big). But I am enjoying the right size clothes. Friday I also bought 2 bathing suits, a 16 and 18. The last suit I bought was a 20W/22W. The most I lost during a diet was 55 lbs which took 6 mths. I am 4 lbs from that now, and I daily amazed on how fast and easy the weight is coming off. I usually have to do a double take when I look at the scale, I can not believe the numbers. It is just amazing. Hugs Julie

Surgery was on March 17th of this year. Yea I had my surgery on St. Patty's day and performed by an Irish surgeon. I figured I would double up on the luck of the irish My friends laughed and told me to tell him not to hit the green beer or irish whiskey before surgery . I told them since it is at 7am, I do not think that would happen. I am 5'4" on a good day. I did not get the height in my family. I got the short jeans. It stinks I wish I was about an inch or two taller. I do not know why but I do. Hugs Julie

Hey! Let me ask you, I read on your page that Dr. Byrnes put you on a liquid diet???? He didn't put me on one. The after surgery I was soooooo sick I barfed for 12 hours straight. Not trying to be gross, but it smelled so awful. Like dead tissue or something like that, it was liquid brown. Wonder if it had to do with me eatting the day before? I had no restrictions, except nothing to eat or drink after midnight. TO top that off, I quit eatting around 5 pm. I was worried about food still being in my tummy. Never got my "last meal". Chell

He suggested that I go on one. Because when they do the lap band, all of those will require a 2 wk liquid diet. So I tried it but it did not last. I did a mostly liquid diet. I did get my last meals in. I do not think the puking was related to eating before the surgery. I did not have any vomiting except for some dry heaves 2 days after surgery. You might have bled a little in the pouch that caused that vomiting. Since it was a brown liquid, it could have been dried blood. Did Dr. B give you an explanation about what it could have been. I do not think your eating or lack there of had anything to do with the vomiting. I am so sorry you had to go through that. I wish every one could have had or does have as easy a time as I have had. I had no pain or complications. The only time I get nauseaous is if I eat too much or too fast. I have been able to eat everything, even though I have figured out I am sugar intolerant. I did that by mistake. I have not had any sweets in almost 3 months. I forgot that teriyak sauce and ranch dressing that is not low cal has a lost of sugar in it. OOPS! I thought I would lose it in Chili's. It was awful. Sorry I could not have been much help. Hugs Julie
