QUESTIONS
Hello All! I am going to my weight loss seminar June 6, 2006. My insurance company is Aetna. I am worried that I won't get approval (probably just lack of confidence) but, I do worry. I have heard a lot of bad things about Aetna. Or do the bad things stick out more? Help me out, please. I REALLY want this VERY badly. I guess it is just not knowing the facts that scare me the most. Any input?

THANK YOU!! I know that my PCP said that he would do whatever it takes to get me approved. I hope so! I have wanted this for about 16 months now and the first seminar I went to I learned that Aetna wants you on a 6 month diet plan with your Dr first. And if you cannot lose the weight and your BMI is over 40 then you're in. I have been seeing my Dr monthly since 10/05. I guess I just need reassurance that I am not the only one to go through the process. You guys are GREAT on this website! Thank you!
Sounds like you already have the ball rolling!!! There are times when we all need someone to just acknowledge what we are going through. I truly think the hardest part of this whole process is waiting for insurance approval. Once I made the decision to have the surgery....it seemed like I just couldn't wait any longer!! We all know what you are feeling and going through. Just keep the faith and hopefully everything will fall right into place!!!

Hey Jodie,
Usually the thing that gets people the most is the 6-month Dr. Supervised diet. And since you have done that, it sounds like the hard part is done. It's great that your PCP is very supportive of the surgery (mine was too). I heard a lot of bad stuff about CIGNA, too....but my surgery was approved in just a few days. So, hang in there and don't be scared. You will get a lot of information at your seminar, and hopefully they will answer any questions that you have.
You are in for the ride of your life!!!
Hugs,
Dianne

Jodie,
I also have AETNA. I think it varies depending on your companies policy. I have 2 options. I can have 6 months doctor supervised weight loss OR a 3 month Surgery prep routine. I have not tried to get approval for WLS yet. I am still in the researching stage. However, I have been very pleased with AETNA in the past. As a matter of fact, it is the best of all insurance copies that I have had!!! I wish you the best. Keep me posted on how things work out. What surgery are you planning to have?
First, I want to thank all of you for being so sweet to me. I believe that with you guys to talk to and help me through this it will be a lot less confusing and stressful! I stress too much as it is! :-) It feels great to know that I have so much support and people to help me with the MANY questions I am sure to have! I am planning on having the bypass...I'm sorry, is it RY something? I know...that doesn't sound too informed, does it? I don't remember the exact wording/lettering. Again, that you all for helping me!
