HOW MUCH FLUIDS DO YOU NEED?

You know what helps me... It has always helped me get the water in. I get a water bottle, at least 2 qts. I put ice in it in the morning and fill it with flavored water. I can not drink straight tap water any more, nasty taste I carry it everywhere with me, grocery stores, Wal-Mart, any where I can get away with having it with me. Most of the bottles I find these days leak and I end up getting half of it down my shirt than in my month. I found one at Wal-Mary called the BUBBA KEG. It is 52 oz and keeps fluids chilled for up to 12 hours. I got a straw to fit in it, that seems to help also and I do not have excess gas from drinking from a straw. I just make sure I put more ice in it mid-day to get the volume up to 64 oz. Another trick someone told me about was taking a plastic water bottle, filling it 1/2 way with water then freeze it. In the AM, take the bottle out and fill it the rest of the way with water. It will chill the water and keep it cool, but it sweats like pig, so be prepared. I hope these suggestions help. If want a Bubba Keg and can not find them at a Wal-mart near you and I will try to get one for you. If mine still has them. It was $8. Hugs Julie

Hey Ladies! This may help some of yall. I ALWAYS carry water with me every where I go. I even put it beside my bed at night. I crave water all day. I think what helped me a lot is that I drink it ice cold. My friend had this surgery 2 years ago and gave me that awesome advice. It has helped me soooooo much. I even go down to the cafeteria, in the morning and get unsweet tea, I put lemon in it, lots of ice and Splenda. I don't measure me water intake, but I feel like I drink all day. Constantly sipping...sipping....sipping. Hope this can help anyone Chell

I just started carrying Crystal Lite flavored water with me. It's still new to me so I forget it sometimes, but I am finding that I notice it in the car & get in some fluids when I wouldn't have before. Great idea, Ms Chell!

I saw that site and just HAD to try it. OMG I need 159oz a day. So I started slow and worked up to 50 oz a day. In the bathroom all night!! Now being advised by all my friends (???) to taper off around 2:00 in the PM, and 'you're body will get used to it' Having a grumpy no sleep day today, but know how important it will be post op to get the fluids in, so will keep trying. ; - ( Candy

&, I THOUGHT MY 118 OZ WAS A LOT ... GOOD LUCK ON THE 159 OZ, MS CANDY. I DIDN'T THINK OF THAT LITTLE NIGHT TIME ISSUE. I'M GONNA HAVE TO CHANGE MY DRINKING/STOPPING TIMES. GOOD FOR YOU FOR STARTING THIS NOW. BE SURE TO POST HOW YOU'RE DOING & HOW YOUR BODY IS REACTING TO THE ADDED FLUIDS. GEEZ, WONDER IF MY WATER/SEWER BILL INCREASES NEXT MONTH?
