SC Newbie! Support groups in my area??

Hi! I'm Bobbie and I've just moved to Ladson on 5/15. I'm waiting on Insurance approval right now. Got my fingers crossed that I'll know something by this Friday! I am going back to Charlotte for my surgery because that's where I did all my hoop jumping and picked out a great surgeon. Starting over because I moved 3 hours away was just too daunting a task!! I am going to be needing an active support group so please fill me in on what's going on in the Low Country. I'm gonna need help, advice, shoulders and friends down here!! Hey Bobbie! Welcome to one of the best support groups around! We have a group that meets every Thursday night at JC's on Ashley Phosphate. We're called the LCBB- Low Country Bariatric Buddies. Let us know when you get approval (there is no "if"; positive thinking, girl!). Hugs! Christine

Welcome to SC Bobbie... There is also a support group that meets at MUSC every 3rd Thursday that is run my the group at MUSC. Everyone is welcome at that one also. The JC's group is fun! They even have a menu just for us, the owner had the surgery. You are more than welcome to join us. It is a great bunch of people. Julie

THEN, YOU'LL HAVE TO FIND OUT IF A SURGEON WILL FOLLOW UP AFTER THAT DOWN HERE. MANY ARE RELUCTENT TO TAKE ON WLSurgery PATIENTS POST OP. SO, YOU MAY WANT TO CONTACT MUSC & DR BYRNE'S STAFF TO SEE IF THEY WILL ACCEPT YOU AFTER YOUR 1st SEVERAL MONTHS POST OP. YOU DON'T WANT ANY SURPRISES THEN.
