Hello Ladies! I was wondering if anyone could help me out. Does anyone know just how much fat and calories that we are suppose to take in, in a day. My co-workers gave me a birthday party today, at work, there was tons of food and cake. I stayed away from the cakes, but I have half of a medium meat ball, one deli spiral and a couple of bites of a chicken enchilada. That sounds like a lot to me, what do yall think? I was full after wards, but was that too much? Oh yeah, a deli spiral, well I bought them from Walmart, they are made by Nancy Co. and are cold tortillas with cheese, pimento and something else, they roll it up and cut into like little spirals. With all that "seems" to be too much, it really has me freaking out, right now. Is my pouch too big, am I eatting to many calories and taking in to many fat grams. Some people tell me that their weight just melted off of them, with little to no effort, well for me I weigh myself tomorrow. I have lost 31 lbs, so far and the 28th of this month will be 1 month. I am grateful for that, but I don't see it coming off with little to no effort. ANy advice? Chell

Chell, O.K., 1/2 a meatball, 1 deli spiral, and 2 bites of a chicken enchilada doesn't sound like a lot to me. If you were to measure that out it would probally = 3-4 ozs...which means you're on track. I measure my food all the time when I'm at home...that has helped me to learn what 4 ozs of food looks like. It takes away the stress of eating out somewhere. As far as fat grams are concern, my motto is less is more. I focus on eating the right amount (no more than 4-6 oz per meal) as to not strech out my pouch...2oz of lean protein with every meal, the rest fruits or veggies. If I'm on the go I will substitute a protein bar or shake for a meal. Girlfriend, you have loss 31 lbs!!! Let me say it again...31 lbs!!! One more time, 31lbs!!! That is a HUGE (no punn intended) accomplishment!!! I don't know about you, but before WLS that would have only been possible if something had been amputated You're doing great!!! Tonya

Thanks for the kind and encouraging words. I know 31 lbs. is alot, in a short period of time! But, I weighed today and only lost 1 lb. in the last week. I was upset, well really upset. So all together 32 lbs. which is wonderful and god knows that I would not have neen able to do without my surgery. Is this normal? I mean I don't want to lose just 1 lb. every week. Really....really discourage, right now. I mean......1 lb???? What is up with that????? Chell

Chell, I know 1 lb doesn't seem like much in the scheme of things, but have you ever seen a lb of fat?? Next time you're out grocery shopping, find the fattiest pack of bacon you can...pick it up, hold it, really look at it. That pack of bacon weighs a pound, you lost the equivelent of that in body fat. I think that's amazing, and I'm sure you will too. I'm pretty sure I can say that the majority of us have experienced the same thing you're going through. "After all I've been through only a pound in a week?!" There's got to be something wrong. THERE'S NOT!!! You're at a spot where most of us have been more than once, and will probally be again. Stay encouraged Darlin'. One week it's a pound, the next it's 5, some weeks it's none, but has long has you are using your tools the weight WILL COME OFF!!! So rejoice over every pound of fat loss ...sometimes it takes time to create a masterpiece Tonya

Hey Chell! You are doing amazingly well! That is a great accomplishment. I have only lost 25 pounds and it has been 7 weeks. Since I have less to lose, they did tell me it would come off more slowly, but I am trying not to get discouraged, because as long as the numbers are going down and not up, I'll take it. I have learned to be patient. As for eating too much, I have that feeling all of the time and when I do, I feel it and I regret it. Take it easy on yourself! Hugs! Christine

Hello Chell! Let me tell you... I've just returned from a 4 day carribbean cruise. I weighed before I left. I ate like I have never ate since my surgery. Eating everything and anything I wanted except for sugar. I ate till I was full, three times a day, bread included. Such as: Breakfast: 1 peice of toast about 5 pcs of bacon a spoon full of scrambled egg Coffee with half and half (drank it about 15mins before breakfast) Lunch: prime rib, whole 1/4 inch slice. broccli 3 fried breaded shrimp slice of french type bread with butter Tea with Splenda before lunch Dinner: Beef tenderloin whole 1 1/2 inch peice. Garden salad about a 1/2 cup Onion soup 1/2 bowl two rolls with butter Drink of either tea or water before dinner NOW, that's a lot of food compared to what I WAS eating since surgery, and I felt like I had eaten a thanksgiving meal each sitting...JUST KNOWING I MUST HAVE GAINED A FEW POUNDS!!! NOT Got home last night and had LOST 4lbs!!!!! I was amazed! I was thinking wearing my clothes that I was stretching them out but they really were getting looser. That is 4 lbs in 4 days!!! For the past few months, I'd been fighting tooth and nail to lose lbs and ate very little thinking the less I ate, the faster the scale would move, uped the protien and all that, but that scale wasn't moving very much..it took me two months to lose 5 lbs.. Then go on a vacation, eating as if I'd never had surgery and lost 4lbs in 4 days!!! I think I was in starvation mode..really scared to eat much of anything or very much at all.. Of couse, I didn't graze, but ate all I could hold at 3 sittings, no snacks, didn't drink for 1 1/2 hours after I ate, and drank a lo****er day and night. Not only did I lose lbs by eating my fill, but my hair stopped falling out! EAT!!! don't starve yourself! WE can not eat like we once did, but we CAN enjoy those delicious foods we ate before surgery (except sugar). Good luck to you! Relax..the weight will come off!
