For those who are wondering how I have been doing since surgery, here is an update.....Well, I am doing a lot better now but it has been a rough almost three weeks. I started getting dumping syndrome from anything I put in my mouth including water, popsicles...you name it....I was so sick I went to ER last Friday night. I was dehydrated but they couldn't get a vein after several tries. They said I had a bladder infection...which was not true and put me on Cipro (large pills) which made me sicker. They gave me a shot of fenergren for nausea and waited till I could drink water and sent me home. Monday I went to Dr. Strickland's (surgeon) and weighed in at 260 from 290 13 days after surgery. He looked at me and said I am admitting you. I had told him I thought I was allergic to the carafate because I had pain when I took it. So I was admitted and had to get a PIC line due to collapsed veins...not fun. But I was released Wed evening and today...Friday morning..I am sitting here for the first time drinking a protein drink and not feeling pain!!!!! PRAISE THE LORD FOR HE IS GOOD! My husband bought me strawberry 0 carb Isopure and it just didn't set with me...so my married daughter Cherie, who by the way flew in Wed. afternoon as a surprise to help me from Colorado, exchanged it at the Vitamin Shoppe for Dutch Choc and it tastes so good!!! So maybe now I can get the strength I need. BTW Dr S. took me off the carafate so I am med free. I gained 8lbs in fluids in the hospital and weighed 268 when I got home from there but today I weighed 261. I know this was long but this is the update. Thanks for the prayers and forgive me for not keeping you posted but I was really sick, I scared everyone at church...they thought I was dying. But they rallied around us and brought meals and are stilll bringing meals and we are blessed so much. The Pastor and his wife kept my daughter and they have 8 children. Not an easy thing and they also homeschool like me. And Pastor Chuck came to see me at least once a day if not more. My neighbors Mike and Faye picked me up from hospital, brought dinner and trimmed all my bushes and trees in our yard. How could anyone ask for more than what I have been given? My God promises He shall provide all my needs according to His riches in glory. And Pastor Chuck reminded me we have a wealthy Heavenly Father. Hope you are all well....Love in Christ Who holds me secure, Joan McDonagh

I am so glad to hear that you are much better! I am sorry you had to go through all that. But isn't it wonderful how family and friends will always rally around you in times of need? Where would we be without them? I know you'll be successful in your journey. Take care of yourself! Kathy
